any suggestions please
viewsat ext. keeps shutting off after a couple minutes, its about 3 yrs old, bought from sister in law who always paid to have it upgraded as needed. I bought because I figured can't be that much different than doing my coolsat do a factory default to clear settings load sats etc new bin and i'me off, no go, it accepts bin, i hook back up to tv. see results but then shuts down and does not reboot. I am letting it fully load no error message etc. Have taken top off no jumper, no broken wireing(hooked coolsat up) worked fine, no loose connectors, checked sodder points, fuses and on and on. My board is yellowish brown but it is 3 yrs old, switch up and down etc. I know it was working for her saw it many times including day bought, only difference I am trying to do the load instead of useing her guy. Thanx

Re: any suggestions please

Re: any suggestions please
nope, sitting on shelf mounted next to tv. in sons room, close to ceiling fan so always getting air flow, nothing on top, good foot from tv itself. Did same when I brought it out to our tv. Sitting on top of floor model tv nothing around it, our coolsat sits in same place.

Re: any suggestions please
when in living room is in a plug by itself, I have dual outlets on either side of tv. In sons room it was plugged in a surge protector. Didn't make any difference though, although that is something I would not have thought of thanx.

Re: any suggestions please
Did you disconnect everything from it b4 you plugged it in?
If it still shuts down, you have a technical problem internally.
Make sure you don't have a piece of the small wire from the cable wire broken off in one of the connections.

Re: any suggestions please
nope, nothing connected to it and am always careful to make sure when hooking and unhooking power off. Small piece of wire that will be a treat, I am as blind as a bat, have to wait for son on that one but will check, but if there was wire it would have come off his connectors would it not, my coolsat works in his room, hooked it up testing his wires for a break and end connectors wondering origionally if that was the problem. I don't know I think the programmer has some kind of block on it I have tried so many things I am running out of options.Thanx

Re: any suggestions please
Sorry Mees, not sure what to tell you. Do you have an outlet in your house that has a GFI on it. You could see if maybe the shutdown is coming from somewhere in your home.
Again it would point back to a problem with the receiver if not in your house. Do you have a reset button on your receiver? Just can't put a finger on it.
Sorry buddy

Re: any suggestions please
No I don't have a gfi, but again my coolsat is usually plugged into that outlet and all is fine. There is one thing I have been wondering about, bootloaders, are they built right into the programs? On a couple of occasions her guy was sick and so he sent her the program via e-mail, she was cleaning her comp. and sent them on to me, when I went into them, there were only two sent, back from jan and feb last year 2007 they both have bootloader o.o9 on readme file, what I have been trying seem to be bootloader 0.00 would that make a difference.

Re: any suggestions please
solidstate is sometimes is very touchy. in my opinion as an electronic engineer, it is overheating in some compacity as stated earlier. either due to electronics are weakening or somekind of feedback. if all else fails take it back to in-laws and reconnect and see what happens. take note to lnb's, grounding of dish, type of switches, ect..
good luck!!

Re: any suggestions please
I got it, went back and reloaded file from Jan. did factory default, repeated this I think 3 or 4 times, loaded new factory and 112607 rescanned and it worked, I have what everyone else has but at least its going. I guess I needed more than one default to knock his info out. Thanx to everyone
