is it just me or n e 1 else too. sometime i cannot make changes or view the menu set.. i ahave noticed this twice.. when i try set up the antena set up after pushing the menu botton, i cannot go into the antena set or n e other option thay have,,..the only way i figgure to get in was to shut the power off from the back of the receiver and then i was good 2 go.... by the way i am talking abt VIewsat extereme??

I had the same problem somewhat, mine wouldn't allow me access to menu and kept shutting down on me. I went back and loaded old bin and it seemed to allow me in so I did a factory default, in my case a bunch of them, now my box had always been done by a pay per situation so this is a different scenario but I loaded old bin defaulted, repeated 3 or 4 times. Each time I did this I took to tv and hooked up when it finally allowed me access to menu I took back and loaded newest factory file from vs. then the 112607 bin and did my scans etc. You need to know your setting did you by any chance jot them down so you can reenter correctly? Its been 3 days now and running with no problems, I don't have any ppv or premiums and a lot of reg. channels are off but its something. I am really new so you might want to wait for helper but what I did didn't hurt my box.

you got it right, just reboot with switch on back and you should regain control of your options.

About a year ago my Viewsat Extreme used to work perfectly until one day when I accidently plugged my cable line into the LNB port and my receiver spit out black smoke. I could not find any resistors, capacitors or anything burned out though. I then started experiencing minor problems like Milan explained.

The Viewsat files that have been released since 11-09-07 have all had a new graphics look to them and these files don't cause the problem Milan explained. Instead they just cause a random shut down and restart on my Extreme. I believe it happens after the EPG gets "too full". Since then I changed from 24 hour guide to 4 hour guide and it's been OK. I believe this short I had a year ago caused some kind of malfunctioning with the memory.

Anyone who is experiencing this type of problem should play around with the EPG settings and let us know your findings.
