Help needed with new download
We have DSR VS 2000
We have loader2
When we download the latest fix at the end instead of going ------ 0000000
It says FAIL
We had the same thing happen with the last fix.
What do we need to do to get the VS2000 box accept the new fix and get rid of the FAIL ?
We're new to FTA so please be specific.
I have looked for this problem but haven't found anyone else getting the same FAIL code at the end of their download.
Thanks for any help.

Load the Factory file first and then load the new bin. Write your ant. settings down, the factory file will erase them. When you get the new bin loaded then rescan the birds. Let us know...

Load the Factory file first and then load the new BIN . Write your ant. settings down, the factory file will erase them. When you get the new BIN loaded then rescan the birds. Let us know...
OK. I need for you to break this down and explain please.
What exactly is the factory file?
Is the factory file the Loader2? Do I need to download that again?
Also, the new BIN is the newest downloaded fix correct?
How do I find where my antennae settings are? Once I know where they are then I can write them down.
I know how to load the new fix or BIN (?) into the box.
What is a bird?
How do I scan for a bird?
I told you I'm new to this so please be gentle.

Please read the info in the forums. On the top left there is a menu (shows Ariza). Click on the pull down and select viewsat, hit go. Then scroll down to Viewsat extreme and there are two sections -- one is for discussion and the other is for downloads. All you need is right there.
Hope this helps.

Sorry if I confused you. I'll try to make this easier this time. I have attached the factory file. download this into your PC, then extract it. Now open you loader and select the factory file you just downloaded. Remember where you put it, so you can retrieve it with the loader. Now write the factory file to your STB just like you do a bin. Then load the new bin for your STB, re-enter sat sttings and re-scan the birds (satellites)...

Re: Help needed with new download
Thanks for the help. I have read and fooled with this all day. I was unable to load the factory file into the receiver. I was also not able to load the new bin into the receiver. The bar would go all the way to the end like it was going to load and at the very end it would say fail.
I tried turning off my Norton security thinking that may have something to do with it but that didn't work. I tried turning off my network box and that didn't work. I'm back to square one with no idea of why I am getting a fail code on the box at the end of writing the download into the receiver.
In the meantime I've read a lot of the information along with comments and it seems this latest fix isn't so hot anyway. Many are reporting their boxes are locked up. I at least have all my local channels so I'm just going to leave it at that for now and wait for a better fix file to come out in the future.
If you have any further ideas on what could be causing the fail code to appear let me know so I can fix it before the next bin comes out.
Appreciate it.

Re: Help needed with new download
Hi
I'm not sure if this will help you or if you already read it but here it is.
Once you reloaded the files did you do a hard reboot. Also is your auto roll ON.
Those are little things that may make a difference.
Good luck.

Re: Help needed with new download
Monoxid, thanks for the suggestion to turn OFF the auto-roll before I disconnect the box from the TV to hook up to the computer. I'll try that next fix around. I never did that before and it used to take the new fixes just fine but who knows
Shoutty buzz, I'm not sure I understand what you are saying. I always turn the receiver box OFF when I disconnect it from the televison. I don't turn it back ON until I'm ready to load the newest file into it.
I must be missing a step somewhere ...........either that or my box just doesn't like these downloads.

Re: Help needed with new download
I'm not convinced you unzipped the file . When I unzipped mine there was a read first attachment that indicated that it was not for 91 . Using it unzipped would get your fail and you would also not see the read first attacment about 91 which has potential to lock reciever. Good Luck!

Re: Help needed with new download
Hi Stony Bob. Thanks for responding. I know the files were unzipped. They had PRG after them and they weren't inside the little zipper icon any more. Good thinking though.
I'm sure someone out there will know what the problem is. Maybe it's my new Windows Vista I'm running ???

Re: Help needed with new download
bump
I would really like to be able to download the new bin and tried to write it into the receiver but got the same "fail" code at the end of the load.
I am running Windows Vista in case that makes any difference.
I've tried to download Loader2 again to see if that might work. I thought maybe the program was corrupt but the link to download Loader2 won't come up for me for some reason and I am a paid member and signed in. Is Loader2 link somewhere else on the board for download?
Any other things I should check?
The com port is open and the file runs. The box just won't accept it at the very end. I get all the way to 99% and thats it.

Re: Help needed with new download
Thanks Shoutty Buzz, but your suggestion didn't work.
I am trying to load the new bin files.
I have tried using 2 but everytime the 100% completion is done, on the receiver LED display, it says FAIL and it doesnt take the file. I have tried changing the COM from 1 to 2. I have tried putting in the factory file over again but get the same message.
Its very frustrating since when the file is being transfered, it looks fine, goes through the percentage until it reaches 100% and then says DOWNLOAD COMPLETE on computer screen but on the receiver itself it says FAIL. Can someone please explain to me why that is happening and how to fix it?
I can't be the only person with this problem.
In the meantime we are able to watch just our local channels so we aren't without TV all together but would like more.

Re: Help needed with new download
Can you recommend another topic area or another board like this where I might get the help I need to get my Viewsat Extreme2000 working? I hate to keep asking here. I appreciate everyone who has responded but evidently this is a more complex problem that I need to get help with elsewhere.
I'd appreciate any links you can offer.
Thanks,

Re: Help needed with new download
I just thought I'd post to let those people having the same problem know I got the reciever fixed by myself. It turned out to be a com port problem. All channels are in and working great. There is a thirty second delay when changing channels however but that's OK.
