ok- i updated my xtreme and now i need to input keys? i know how to get in it, but i see "viaccess, irdeto/betacrypt, nagravision, seca, conax, BISS, cryptoworks." which one do i input keys for? i have 2 key programs i downloaded- keyripper and nagra keygrabber.
i initially went into nagravision- but the available amount of characters for the "key" is shorter than the keys posted.
Thanks for the quick reply!

alrighty. im getting more frustrated with all of this. so i try to setup my dish once more. i used a satellite finder. i believe i found the right one. i have updated my software and have inputed the new keys. i still get nothing. i did take my ariza extreme to a place where the satellites were all setup and all i got was a preview channel to PPVs. i brought the unit back home and re-directed my dish where the ones were pointed at where i tried out the unit. it still maybe possible i am not pointing the dish correctly. what else could be a factor? and if i am incorrectly pointing the dish- is there someone or a company i can call to set it up for me?
thanks everyone

Your mom's dish was more than likely already pointed properly. You simply needed to run one cable from the back of the receiver to one port on the LNB if it is a dual eyed lnb.
The problem is lying in the proper antenna setup for her dish.
Now, we need to know which LNB she is using.
If it is a dish pro LNB, you need to setup echo 7 as port 1 or A. Echo 8 as port 2 or B. Then you auto scan each satellite.
If it is a dual LNB that does not say Dish Pro, it has to be set up as a Legacy LNB. Legacy dish 1 is echo 7, Dish 2 is echo 8. Then auto scan each satellite.
If you have 2 single LNBs on the dish 500, then you use the included diseqc switch to hook both lnbs to the receiver. The 119w and 110w on the y yoke will guide you to proper hookup and antenna setup if you think about it. Then auto scan each satellite.
Good Luck !!

Hit menu button find channel guide and download it. It takes a while, like a minute and a half, then you good for quite awhile. I don't have an Ariza Extreme, so I would not know. Probably 7 days.

THANKS EVERYONE AGAIN! I GOT IT WORKING!
lets run through it if you new like me.
1: get properly setup! dont buy a digital compass- use a real one! the post with how to aim the dish is very good in this thread!
2: make the proper connections! plug everything in correctly! trust me- ull look like an idoit if everything isnt setup right.
3: for the ariza extreme- make sure u get the lastest .sgn file and use the loader tool! this was my problem! i used an older .sgn
4: use these message boards! it helped me a lot!
(im skippin the scanning and what not, but read through this thread- itll help!)

Just a note...
Glad to hear everythings up.
Read all the posts you can on your particular receiver. The knowledge will help you with future problems and issues.
Find Echostar Package with remote like a sat button or in the menu and that will put your channels in the proper dishnet order.
Good luck to you in your new hobby !!
