Xtreme=Homesat= coolsat= fix?
Mingo provided a solution with the tsop switch(change) which makes it a Homesat.Well good news;Coolsat is introducing the Homesat v6 so converted Xtremes should continue to receive support.(The Xtreme 'team' has been developing the Coolsat 8000(?) ).It looks like there is still hope boys & girls. Wait,
So, does that mean we can use those bins on, lets say, the CS 5000?

Re: Xtreme=Homesat= coolsat= fix?
No, not yet, what he is saying is that someone else will be picking up the coding responsibilities in the future for the Viewsat Extreme (which has been recently discontinued) by Viewsat.

Re: Xtreme=Homesat= coolsat= fix?
Keep track of the Ariza Xtreme designer,er 'design team'(it's like "follow-the-money-trail)Let's call this designer/team"Mingone".#1 Mingone designed the Ariza Xtreme,#2 Mingone designed the Homesat which is exactly the same as the Xtreme other than the TSOP,#3 Mingone may have passed on the TSOP fix to a trusted colleague,#4 Mingone negotiated an arrangement(purely speculation) with Coolsat to produce another Homesat(or at least market it) as part of the 'deal' to produce the Coolsat 8000(not related genetically). This is showing strong loyality to the 'Xtreme' line.If these assumptions are correct, and assumptions they are, then it is not a big jump to also speculate that the support will be continued for,at least, the Homesats(1&2).It all fits!
Again,I want to point out that this is SPECULATION,based on logical assumptions!Chow.

Re: Xtreme=Homesat= coolsat= fix?
Just so that everyone is clear, it is the Ariza Extreme = Homesat and not the Viewsat Extreme.
Viewsat coders will keep supporting their receivers until the receivers hardware cannot keep up.
Viewsat cannot afford to leave their customers hanging high and dry = it would badly hurt their brand image.
That is one of the reasons for buying brand name receivers. When Coolsat pulled a stunt where they did not support their warranty on one of their receivers, they lost alot of trust.
In any case, if I can get my Ariza Extreme back up and running without costing as much as a new box, I would go for it. It was a good box and picture quality is excellent.

Re: Xtreme=Homesat= coolsat= fix?
My mistake, but only 50%
Yes originally I thought the post was discussing the Viewsat Xtreme unit. And given that Viewsat has discontinued its production, it was easy to see where my error was.
Having said that Viewsat had discontinued production of the Xtreme but will support it until it is no longer feasible to do so.
Sorry for any confusion, my confusion caused <blush>

Re: Xtreme=Homesat= coolsat= fix?
Creative,Change that 50% to 100%__You're in the ARIZA forum,I didn't post it in the Viewsat forum. It's a tiny mistake and 'doesn't mount to a hill of beans',so don't sweat it.
I've had many of my numerous mistakes corrected. The good thing is nobody can see your face here.lol..Happy New Year
