Smile Mingo's Xtreme TSOP fix

As I mentioned a week or so ago, there is a download from Mingo(with a detailed explaination) in the xxxxxxx files, with pictures,on how-to-change your tsop to convert it to a Homesat. The tsop is the only fifference between these two ird's,BUT,it doesn't tell you where to get this TSOP.If ANYONE knows where to get it,please post it here(and at xxxxxxxx.
FYI:Coolsat Can.is now advertising the Homesat v6 as the replacement for the Coolsat 5000 & 6000.($80.00/what a deal/very tempting since I love my 2 Xtremes)

Re: Mingo's Xtreme TSOP fix

Thanks Alan,I tried that inquiry at ebay can. with no luck. There were some for Viewsat and a few others but not for Xtreme. It would be wiser to buy a new, upgradded Xtreme(the Homesat v6)for $79.99 at Coolsat Can.rather than pay shipping, cost of mod, plus cost of TSOP/shipping.I would attempt to do it myself since I have 2 Xtremes that are vastly underrated and woefully lacking support. If the Homesat v6 is significantly improved over the Xtreme then you can expect its price to jump greatly. Thanks and I will try again.

Re: Mingo's Xtreme TSOP fix

the homesats ok.
but its not like the other modern units out.thus the cheap price tag.
it only has 16 mbs ram
most have at least 32 mbs now.some with 64 mbs
this will yeaild much more epg for example.

the homesat is comparable to the old captiveworks 600s regular.

you may just want to check out the cw 600s premium.i think you would find for 100$
you would be even more impressed.
and it always has much faster support than nor group.
just fyi.
im sure the homesat is an ok unit.and its cheap enough.

Smile Re: Mingo's Xtreme TSOP fix

I wish I had known about the Homesat 16mb ram before I mailed my 2 boards all the way to Victoria (I'm in Nova Scotia)last week. He's only charging $10.each but the return postal fee with insurance and MO came to nearly $70.But if I get 2 'new' Homesats and they last another year (or 2) it will be worth it.I'm thinking that MAYBE the reason CW is getting such good support is that they want to get rid of their soon-to-be obsolete stb's.I don't feel this is the best time to buy a new box.I have my CS6k for now.Gotta go.Thanks

Re: Mingo's Xtreme TSOP fix

No not at this time. It dont look promising for the extreme. Not unless you convert it to a homesat by pulling the tsop. Sorry!
