If your SV-1000 went 8888 that mean the Tsop is corrupted and you must replace the Tsop chip to solve the problem. I've done too many STB already and they are up and running right now.
Your Sonicview SV-1000 Tsop part number is ST29W160ET,please go to ebay and order it for just $19.99.
Tools : Hot air desolding tool or fine tip soldering iron, couple inches of lead or lead free solder, solder flux, couple inches of soldet wick, manifier.
If you guys not sure how, please take a moment to watch this short video clip of how to remove and install your chip.

Tsop Install Note:
Carefully remove old tsop with hot air desolding tool or iron tool.Donot pry on the chip with insufficient heat or you will end up breaking the traces the connects the tsop to the motherboard the your unit is trashed.
The tsop chip that you guys order on Ebay have had preprogramed to the factory image of your receiver. It will function just like new factory unit.
If after installed you still have no front lights then carefully check that all legs of the tsop are soldered to the motheboard correctly, insure that pin 1 on the chip (the white dot on the board) is going to pin 1 (the round circle in corner of the chip) otherwise you will solder it upside down and damage the chip and or motheboard. All pins must connect to the motherboard and be soldered individually without touching one another or you will create a dead short and it will not work. If you get 4 dashes on the display you are close but still have 1 or a few legs not soldered right to the board. If you still have blank display then you may have mutiple legs of the tsop tjat are not conect completely to the board. Make sure to use solder flux to ensure an even flow of solder form the tsop leg to the soder pad on it.
Goodluck to you all and hoping this message will help some of you to bring your dead STB back to life.
