BUD LNB compatibility?
Okay, I've spent hours reading posts, and I still can't figure it out ...
I have a big dish C/Ku system with a 4DTV. On the dish is a dual LNB feedhorn with a polarotor. One of the LNB's is C-band and the other is a .7db Ku band. I'm thinking of adding an FTA receiver. probably a Pantec/PansatX. I understand the concept of splitting each LNB feed and then A/B switching into the single LNB input of the FTA receiver. First question: the LNB's are powered by a DC level on the coax, right? I seem to remember mine are 18V. So these HF splitters must pass that DC, but hopefully isolate the DC voltages coming from the two receivers (FTA & 4DTV) from each other, right? Diodes or something? Don't want to damage either. Second question: it's not real clear to me exactly what types of LNB's work with what programming. Mainly, though, I'd like to know what my BUD system LNB/polarotor combination will get me on the FTA. DN? DCTV? BEV? I would assume I'll have to use the 4DTV to control both dish position and polarotor position. Or do I have to add another LNB to the dish to get DN/DCTV/BEV? Any guidance appreciated. |

From the sound of it, you should be teaching us. After listening to you though
I think that there is a lot of potential for this hobby besides what we are using it for, kinda like the next evolution from the short wave radio days. It would be kinda cool to see if I can get Spain and maybe China and see Jay Leno speaking Chinese, I can't understand him anyway. How much are these big asss dishes and will my pansat work on them? |

I guess what I'm getting at is that I don't understand LNB compatibility. Where can I learn what types of LNB's will receive what services? In particular, will either the C-band or the Ku band LNB I currently have on my big dish system, which uses a polarotor to control polarity, allow me to get DN, DTV, and/or BEV?

I played with this bud digital before putting multiple small dishes in I used a universal blackbird digital ku lnb freq 10.7 to12.75 ghz lo freq 9.75 to10.6ghz... output 950 to2150 mhz... with a gain rating of65 db and a noise ratio of 7 db ( not the best but it was sufficient to pull in digital signal this was bolted to a paraclips 8 foot dish but a solid dish pulls a way stronger signal for dish netw..

Bud LNB compatilility
Like You I have big BUD with a C/Ku band = linear type. I have a Uniden Videocypher II Plus with C/Ku. In C Band I can watch almost anything the this Band. In Ku just some feeds some good some bad, because it is not a 4DTV receiver. I have too, a FTA StarPro DVB that I use as a slave to watch the Digital programms in the C Band LNB from sat Intelsat 805 at 55.5?W to 137?W. In this way you can just watch with the FTA receiver the satellites/tps with the yellow base color and 4 frequence #s like, for example, on the "EchoStar 9/Intelsat American 13" 121?W, as per the www.lyngsat.com chart, Freq.3940 V, LNB freq 5150 & Symbol Rate 29270. And so on the other satellites with FTA channels.
If you go down on the satellite chart, in the above bird, you see the DN Nagravition channels that they have 5#s = Freq. 11724 V - Symbol Rate 20.000. For this one you need a DBS Adapter for big dishes, that is a Dual output DBS LNFB w/adapter plate kit(for two or more receivers) Part # 5034007, price $99.95 + S&H $9 from www for FTA channels. Ask from ***** on for a free catalog and see this on page 50. Note that the DBS listings on all (KU) 5#s satellites/tps, in the Lyngsat charts are green and the other Ku band DVB (with 4#s)are yellow. I think that I tried to make you understand how this think works!... For me (I live in Ontario, Canada to watch what you want to watch I have to buy another DVB receiver like the "Cyclone" (this comes with "Nagra 2", I saw that the bird 91 has already changed some channels to this, and the other will folow) the "Cyclone Pro 500" can be bought from the log above, (see home page), but they have less expensive receivers like the "Predator" , Pansat 2700 Ultra, PanTec etc. with the small dishes. If you need any more instructions feel free to contact me; cduarte18@cogeco****. TREBLA Last edited by dssguy; April 22nd, 2005 at 10:37 PM. |
