Not having much luck with install. . . . .
Well, we will try to post this message for a third time. The other two after clicking on submit new thread went to a page that could not be found. And there was nothing typed when I came back from ?????
I installed a small dish next to my "old" 8 footer. I have the Elevation and Azimuth set but can receive nothing. I do not have a signal meter but the Pansat 3500SD does. The person I purchased the dish from stated to find 119 first. After a good signal, set the skew to pick up 110 and 129. Well, I can receive nothing. My question is: Will I be able to find a signal with this unit that is "factory fresh". Or does it have to be "modified" first?

Re: Not having much luck with install. . . . .
i think you can get signal with factory file..i dont really know much about pansat.
post your dish type and settings you're using.
Anyways if you have a elliptical dish from DN(1000 series) you have to get 119 sgnal first like you said before.

Like gibahca said, post the settings you put into the receiver. How do you connect to the receiver from the dish, do you have a switch?

Re: Not having much luck with install. . . . .
one thing about pansat signal meters (at least the 2700a & 3500sd that i've seen)...they do not tell you what specific sat (110, 119, or 129) that you are locked on to. kind of tricky if your not already aimed...you could show quality on lnb1 but never find lnb2 (or 3).
have you gone to dishpointer.com to check your coordinates. they have a "line of sight" feature thats pretty nice to help you with the azimuth setting.

Re: Not having much luck with install. . . . .
The dish is from ebay. Store name is MX-MART. Listed as 110/118 & 119, 129 HD dish 1000. Model is ROC-AE85 a 30" X 33" super elliptical multi satellite dish antenna. 3 dual LNB's. Two 0.3db circular dual LNB's for 110 & 129. One special LNB for 118.7 & 119. States LNB frequency set as 10750 in receiver menu. That has been done. Connected with a diseqc 4 in 1 out switch. I also tried without the switch for the center LNB just to be sure it was not the switch as a problem. Did the dishpointer.com and it shows a good line directly over the corner of my house. Set the test up at the dish with a small TV and the receiver. That receiver when connected to my "big" satellite system picks up all kinds of FTA stations. Receiver works.

Re: Not having much luck with install. . . . .
Does the 119 lnb have the dp logo on the back of it? You have to hit the sat pretty good to get quality. After you get to where dishpointer said to go, you still have to dial it in by yourself.

Re: Not having much luck with install. . . . .
Are they 2 seperate lnb's on the dish, or 1 big 1.

Re: Not having much luck with install. . . . .
so your better option is run a cable directly from the LNB for 118/119 to your receiver.
The settings you have to use is:
lnb type - single/standart
lnbfreq - 10750
diseqc - none
TPfreq - 12239
find it first and after you deal with the others sat's

Re: Not having much luck with install. . . . .
Any luck SLY-CAT, I double checked you elev and az and you are right on it. On my set up I had to tweek my elevation to get a high quality but I still had Q. So like gibahca stated, try those settings.

Re: Not having much luck with install. . . . .
There are three lnb's on my setup.
I will try with the setting listed here. The problem is it is so dam cold here, I don't like being outside after I get out of work. Temp my go up for Thursday, so I may get another chance to check. I did find the upgrade from B-70 to B-80 and the "other" file to make changes with. Entering keys makes more sense now that I can see it in the machine.
Late here, time to get to bed.

Re: Not having much luck with install. . . . .
HI,
You pros are going to like this one. The outside temp went up today and I spent 2 hours after work trying to get the dish to pick up something. I received nothing! Gave up, went in house and cooked a fish. I ate most and the black cat got the rest. Not being one to not figure out a problem, I looked again at the info about the small dish I purchased. Then it hit me! Several years ago, I removed my old big dish and put together the new one from a box. Nice 8 footer, mesh. Got it up and working without any problem. Thinking the same about this small dish is where I made the misteak. The big dish being an axi-symmetric design, the elevation points it right at the satellite. Nose cone and amps in the center of the dish. Not at all like the small offset design. Soooooo, I found the hidden indicator for setting the correct elevation and went outside and set it. Wow! Was I off. So, if it is not raining Friday after work, I will give it another try to find 119. It just might work this time with the elevation set correctly. When you work with small dishes, you can not think "big." Nothing like being brain dead.
Told you you pros would like this one. . . . .

Re: Not having much luck with install. . . . .
Back again, and with much better results. Found 118.8 with good signal. No luck with 119, yet. Did hit 110, but it is 99.9% gone. I have a question about 118.8 & 119, but will put it in a different post.
The seller of this dish stated one should get 119 first and then set the skew for 110 and 129. I was getting nothing and was about to quit for the day when I set the skew and that is when I hit 118.8. ?
Interesting on what is still there. I want to thank all that took the time to look at my problem.
R.T.
