What can you expect?
What would be the result of hooking into a DAVE pre-positioned dish? I notice most here have special dishes..
Also what extra equipment should I have? (Besides fta receiver)

Most of DTV dishes will not work with FTA. You may get half of the channels.

That is a DTV Phase III. It will get 110 and some of 119. Your best bet is to use that dish and change the LNBS. Using a daucer(LNB bracket) and using single lnbs you can get everything. Also there is a cheap mod that will turn a Phase III into a Dish 500.

A Dave pre-positioned dish will not get you ANYTHING as Dave uses different sats. You can look on ebay for some "lnb bracket". Just make sure it works with a phase III dish.

correct, not same birds; but to psychocub's initial question his Dave Phase III dish pointing to Dave's birds will allow for pickup of Charlie's birds and a portion of the channels there on; not ideal but for initial viewing/testing it's a start
