Satellite Tripod Mount
Has anyone used an Satellite Tripod Mount with Center Pole?
Is it sturdy? What do you think about using one?
Thanks

Re: Satellite Tripod Mount
The smaller 3ft. mounts are good for the smaller dishes i.e., Dish 500's ect.
As the dish and weight gets larger so too must the Tripod.

Re: Satellite Tripod Mount
I used one for the first time this last weekend. They work great, I highly recommend one. Very sturdy, and makes finding different sats alot easier than crawling up on your roof.

Re: Satellite Tripod Mount
They work well if you can get them level.

Re: Satellite Tripod Mount
If you are pressed for space and/or don't like the thought of climbing on your roof ... why not mount the dish of a 4x4 cedar post? So in the event you need to service it (or tweak it) it is easier.

Smart idea, but i worry about wind, snow and rain. I would like to service or tweak the dish as needed.

Re: Satellite Tripod Mount
Sink it deep ...
Mine's attached (lag-bolted) to the edge of my deck. If it needs tweaking, no climbing .

Re: Satellite Tripod Mount
The tripod i'm using is about 45" tall with a DP500 on it. ALso the tripod has 3 holes in each foot, so if you wanted to screw it down to a foundation of some sort you could.

Re: Satellite Tripod Mount
I'm a installer and we use tripods all the time in apartments due to the no mounting rules they have in place. They work well, but I would suggest securing it somehow. Another idea would be a non-pen mount or maybe even a rail mount.

Re: Satellite Tripod Mount
Buddy had one of these that you can put anything weighed so that it is stable. They are good for mobile apps.[CODE][http://www.prosatellitesupply.com/INSTALLATION_ACCESSORIES.htm/CODE]

Re: Satellite Tripod Mount
Alwims,
Nice pic of your setup. Snow all around. Shouldn't you take that nice rig and set it up where it is warm to get away from that white crap that falls from the sky?
