Seeking Advice Please!
I don't know anything about FTA stuff. My friend always has the PPV fights & I never had questioned him about how much his cable bill is at the end of the months till a couple of weeks ago. Well his answer supreised the hell out of me when he said that he pays nothing. He told me that a friend of his hooked up his receiver & satalites about 2-3 years ago.
He got me in touch with his friend & he told me that I need to purchase me a:
-Sonic View 8000 PVR (if I want HD)
-Sonic View ihub
-Dish 500 & a Regular Dish
Why do I need 2 different dishes?
Will I beable to get the PPV channels with this? What about the HBO's, ShowTime's, etc...? Any local channels?
I just don't want to spend my hard earned $$$ on this equiptment if it isn't going to work.
Thanks for any advice you may have!!!!

Re: Seeking Advice Please!
Right now even your friend is missing a few channels, like the ppv's. He uses 2 dishes to get 3 sats but you can get what he gets with 1 dish. Do some research on IKS systems for SV receivers it uses an Ihub.

Re: Seeking Advice Please!
There is so much to read & learn. I don't have a lot of time to be on the net so I will read as much as I can in the time that I have.
Will the SV 8000, ihub & Dish 1000.2 or1000.4 work well for local channels & some PPV channels? I really like watching UFC & Boxing on PPV. Don't really care for any of the others.

Re: Seeking Advice Please!
No PPV at this time. Lots of specialty channels like HBO, SHO etc etc. A few dirty channels. I like to watch those from my Selafain Chair.
Oh, Welcome to Abadss.

Re: Seeking Advice Please!
So then it is still worth getting right? Should I just get the SV 360 Elite instead of the SV 8000 for the mean time? I could always get the 8000 if/when the PPV channels come back.

Re: Seeking Advice Please!
If you want HD you need the 8000.
The hobby just went through some changes (search "N3" for more info) that took all the channels out of commission. They are slowly coming back for sonicview users with the Ihub. There are about 160 channels open right now. Mostly Movie channels and basic cable stuff. NO PPV or locals as of yet, but i'm sure they are coming.
Is this guy supplying you with the equipment?

No, I have to get everything on my own. He said he will come out & hook it up for me though for a case of beer.

a c&p from Sonicviewihub.xxx

Pay-Per-View and most other Special Event programming channels are not available on public IKS systems as a security measure taken by server operators. As such most of these channels will not be available in most cases for the iHub. Super Special Events such live fights, etc may be added on a case by case basis.

Re: Seeking Advice Please!
PearlWhiteGT - Depends onyour location. If you are on the Eastern Seaboard then 1000.4 or else, 1000.2.
My advise is wait till all the Bugs are worked out on the SV units and NFusion units before you spend money on these systems.
May be about 2 weeks.

I'm located in Corpus Christi, Texas.
I think I will wait a few more weeks. For the mean time I will get some type of cable from a provider so that I can still watch the UFC fight on July 11.
There is so much info on this site. It's going to take me a long time to understand all the FTA stuff. Thanks for a great site!!!
