Satellite Install
I will be moving in a month or so and this will be my first time getting a dish set-up.
My plan is too have Dishnet set-up. maybe start with some kind of plan with some premium channels and just swap the receiver with a elite w/ ihub and get rid of the dishnet service after 3 months or should i just have a professional installer put in everything and skip the dishnet install all together. what do you think.
Thanks for your input!!!!

Re: Satellite Install
first off in most cases dish will make you sign a2yr contract and second if you cancel in that 3rd month youll probably be obligated to buy the equipment so not a good idea my opinion. considering the dish will be all you can use

Re: Satellite Install
personal opinion here but i would get dn to do an install and take advantage of their $9.99 a month for first 3 months deal and then drop down to the very most basic package as a backup then you can switch out your sv when ever you want

OK if i swop out the receiver then i would will have to unplug my phone line right? I'm just trying not to arouse suspicion or I'm maybe being paranoid.

Re: Satellite Install
no the phone line is used to update the dn receiver and download if you made any ppv purchases they can't tell if you have any other receiver hooked up
but you always can unhook it if you want

Re: Satellite Install
true, a 2yr committment is required for $9.99 plan, plus read the fine print about dropping down to a lessor plan, some caveats there; for anything less than 2yr plan an activation fee applies ($49 or $99?);
personally, if you're prewired on the inside, I would get a DIY friend or local pro off hours to install the dish and run the cable to the outside demarcation; complete ANT and DPP LNB combos available on the auction sites for $50 or less; brand new online for $60-$70; why contact DN at all unless you really want a sub; instead, for backup there are DN pay as you go options using the bottom end 200/300 receivers for <$100 to start; designed for RVers/campers, so should work from anywhere;

I go along with BigEvil69 and if you don't pay them, that is the easiest way to break the contract. (just cry they cost too much)
But really, you can buy your own Dish500 on eBay & do it yourself if you read up about it here.
Check out dishpointer.com in my links below to see what your settings should be.
You will feel real good about yourself after you find your own signal & set your own dish.
