Scanning right/wrong?
Hi,
Reading what others are receiving makes me think(dangerous), that I may be "looking" for channels the wrong way. My new SV8000HD has many sats I can choose from for scanning for channels. The problem I have found is when one of these satellites listed is listed for a certain location. Example: 129 degrees. OK, I pick that one, set the disq--- switch to 3(that is where that lnb is hooked to and confirmed to picking up 129) and discover I have zero quality. Only get quality on a very few of the transponders. What I pick up is several "local" stations with call signs. Others have strange names that make no sense. I do pick up a very few of the channels one would really like to look at. hbo, tmc, disc, spike, but not many of them. Checking with Lynsat I should get much more that I do. Any ideas as to what is wrong?

Well, lets start with 129. As stated the sat listed for 129 is EchoStar5. That comes up with:
LNB Type: single
LNB freq: 11250
22KHz: Off
LNB power: On
Transponder: 12224
Search option: All
Network search: On
DiSEqC: Port 3 (the lnb pointed at 129. See below confirmation)
Motor: Disable
Legacy Switch: Off
RED button: Scan Sat
With this I get some of the transponders with signal 69 Quality 49.
Anytime it checks a possible HD location, it lists "failed" and continues to scan. What I do pick up is:
12516 20000 V 5/6 VID 7714 AUD 7715 PCR 7714 and that is the channel that states: Congratulations! You are pointed at the 129 orbital location.
