What Telefonica/Amazonas is

A lot of members have been asking what this is and here is the answer with all the TF bins being released lately keep in mind this is not for dn...


1. Telefonica is a provider just like DN and BEV.
2. The satellite is aimed mostly at South America.
3. 61W, Amazonas is the satellite that carries the programming.
4. You need a linear lnb to receive this satellite.
5. If you are farther north than say Puerto Rico, more than likely you can't get the signal.
6. They are running on Nagravision 2 encryption at the moment.
7. Only a few receivers work with this satellite.
8. The programming is in Spanish and Portuguese.

List of receivers that I know that work with telefonica are.
1. Captive Works.
2. Sonic View.
3. Viewsat
4. Coolsat 4,5,6k with a modified bin
5. Azbox

To answer your question, i.e., What is Telefonica/Amazonas

Here goes:

It's a satellite provider from South America located at 61.0w, but before you run out into your yard and start re-pointing your Dish, understand that if you are in North America you are NOT going to hit it.

As the footprint does not reach the United States , only those situated (located) in South America, the Caribbean, Puerto Rico or the south of Mexico are able to hit this SAT, with varing degrees of success.

What kind of dish and LNB do I need ?

The dish depends where you are located and the LNB you need is linear 10750Mhz or universal single KU.
