Coolsat 6001
Being a newbie to FTA...I picked up a slightly used Coolsat 6001, and dont know where to start. I mean I can hook it up no prob, but what are the first steps in getting it up and running? Is one transponder going to work, or do I need 2? Thank you for ur help.

You mean a coolsat 6100.I do beleive coolsat no longer exits. They have
closed the door.No more support. It would be your best bet to look into
a receiver that operates using IKS.Nfusion is one of them.I have a coolsat
5000 6000 and a 6100 and I just use as door stops.

Re: Coolsat 6001
You will have to search out true fta sat like 97W and use a linear lnb which is different than the circular lnbs that dn use. If you want to pursue fta sats you might want to consider a motorizd dish as well.

Re: Coolsat 6001
Support for the CS most likely will return sometime in the future. CS6100
will have a hope but if you have a CS6000 there is not as much hope
unless new coders take it upon themselves to take care of the CS4,5 and 6.
In my opinion though, it is unlikely the 6000 will get a look.
They do work good for their intended purpose, however. Depending on
what FTA sats you want the satinfo on board might be good and
you will already have the TP necessary for the scan.
