Difference between Dish Network dishes
This is my second post as a newbie. I am in process of purchasing equipment and have decided on the nFusion HD receiver. However, I am uncertain about the satellite dish. There are two dishes that say that they are 1000.2 from what I have research. The first one is the Dish Network Dish 1000.2 with HD Triple LNB (has Dish Network name and 1000 in a box printed on the dish) and the Dish Turbo HD (has Dish on the satellite...not Dish Network...and TurboHD under that). The Turbo HD is advertised as a 1000.2 dish as well. Are these the same dishes? Which is the better dish to go with?

Re: Difference between Dish Network dishes
dont know about the turbo but the 1000.2 is a great dish and can be had on on flebay for around 30+ shipping i think the tourbo thing is just a new ad thing dn has the the 1000 is a good dish to just dont pay that much for it and dont ever buy a superdish they are bad. best bet is a 1000.2 works great let us know how your system work and if you need any help setting it up there is always someone here to help later

Re: Difference between Dish Network dishes
with regards to equipment, i feel like incrediblefta.com has the best pricing from what I have found. They have a nFusion HD 8PSK combo package (includes receiver, 8psk, remote, 4x1 diseqc switch, hdmi cable, 1 or 2 GB flash drive) for $399.95. I think i will also need a sat finder kit which has a compass and a signal meter w/battery pack for $15. Does this sound like a good deal? Does anyone know of any better deals out there?

Re: Difference between Dish Network dishes
Depending on shipping costs, sounds good.
You might want to budget for a DP44 switch to replace the included switch though.

Re: Difference between Dish Network dishes
Why would I need the DP44 switch? Guess that's a part I don't know about yet...

Because you need the power inserter to feed the dish.

Re: Difference between Dish Network dishes
Personal experience: neither my nFusion nova or HD supplied enough power to the LNBs.
Result: "No or bad signal"

Re: Difference between Dish Network dishes
those dishes are both the same dish you are talking about. The turbo dish is just the newest design that dn came out with. Either way they both hit 110,119, and 129. DN normally puts either a 1000.2 or a 1000.4 in now. They are pretty much getting rid of the other dishes and all the equipment they are installing since aug 14 is all mpeg 4.

Re: Difference between Dish Network dishes
you can get a sat finder for around 8 or 9 free shipping on fleeeebay as for the other if you do some shopping you might get it for cheaper but that deal sounds alright the dpp44 switch you might need the 1000.2 is a power hog it kind of depends on how much cable you run the longer the cable the less power the lnb will get you need at least 12v to 16v i would get one just to be on the safe side, you dont want to get all set up and find you need more power and have to wait another week or two to watch tv anyway good luck and remember this is just a hobbie and a sub is a good idea

Re: Difference between Dish Network dishes
True, but he did say he was looking at the 1000.2 dish.
Like sly said, better to just buy it now: "you dont want to get all set up and find you need more power and have to wait another week or two to watch tv".
That's what I went through, not a good way to keep the better half accommodating toward my hobby.
If it turns out to be unnecessary for this application, it can always be resold at little or no cost.
