Help me set up SV8000HD?
Hi,
I have posted a few times and have now gotten everything I need to get FTA up and running. I have been playing with getting the dish pointed today and the best I can get is a strength of 71. I had the quality meter pop up earlier and now it is down to zero.
I have searched and searched the forums, but can't find what I need to do to get this system working. I have the SV8000HD, 8PSK module, iHUB all connected right out of the box.
What am I doing wrong? Is there a link or post you can direct me to??? I am trying not to get frustrated, but it's not working.
Thanks!

Re: Help me set up SV8000HD?
I did go to dishpointer and am now getting 71 for the signal strength but 0 for quality. I also notice that I do not have the option to select "OCS-DP" for LNB type in the dish settings. Would that prevent me from getting this to work?
Also, I am using the 1000.2 and no diseqc switch, so do I still need to assign ports on the disecq option for each satellite?

Re: Help me set up SV8000HD?
appears you need to adjust your dish position..Q75 and S75 are the minimum recommended values to maintain a good picture..
hub servers are down right now but you can test your settings using nasa angel and ion (213, 262, 216 respectively)

Re: Help me set up SV8000HD?
You need to first upgrade to the latest bin to see ocs-dp lnb option.

Re: Help me set up SV8000HD?
Also, as already mentioned, the SonicView servers are down right now. So once you get everything set up, you won't be able to test it to see if it works. Hopefully things will be back up and running this weekend, but no one knows. Hang in there, you'll get it done.

Re: Help me set up SV8000HD?
Thanks a bunch for the help. I did update with the bin file and now my signal strength goes from 71 to 20 in the same position I had the dish set up earlier. Guess I will be spending more time researching how to set up the dish.

Re: Help me set up SV8000HD?
Ok, I have updated with from what I can tell is the latest bin from the download section (hd8000_v460_Ihub_beta.bin) and have my 1000.2 dish at the exact elevation, azimuth and skew as dishpointer.com tells me too. I have also played around with those setting in a few varrying degrees and still i only have signal strength of 57 and quality of 0. I can adjust the azimuth a full 180 deg and still a 58. I have no obstructions in front of the antenna. Is this a possible file/software issue or a dish set up issue?

Re: Help me set up SV8000HD?
Signal strength looks like something is wrong, could be a switch, maybe you need an inline amplifier if you have a long distance (100ft +) from lnb to receiver.
Your signal strength is what shows how good of a connection you have between Receiver and LNB.
The quality shows you how well you are hitting the sat. 60% Quality on a SV will get you a reliable picture.
Check your switches and connections. Your signal should not fluctuate like that.

Re: Help me set up SV8000HD?
nice good info bud also could be a f-connector if it is not on properly it cause a kinda short and kills the quality and lowers the signal too ..

Re: Help me set up SV8000HD?
Do you have other FTA receivers? If so, I would recommend trying a different receiver one to isolate the problem between the SV and the cabling. I have noticed that some of the SV bins have exhibited issues with signal quality, but the signal is actually okay.
Hope this helps.
