DishNetwork dish for FTA

I have a DishNetwork dish on the roof. I understand that the LNB used by DishNetwork is not good for viewing FTA. Could I replace the LNB with one that is FTA appropriate and still use the dish that's already there?

Yes you can use the dish that is on the roof.Is it a 18 in dish.?I also
think you can use the LNB.Fta uses the circular LNB and the Linear for
FTA.With one LNB you will only get one Satellite.

Depending upon what it is you wish to scan, you may be good with what you have there now.

Re: DishNetwork dish for FTA

I have a Dish 1000 on the roof. I also have a Dish 500 single LNB at my disposal. I would like to get channels from AMC 4 (History Channel and Biography Channel). I was under the impression that the Dish Network LNBs will not work for that and I was going to purchase Spitfire Elite LNB and try to make it work with the existing setup. What do you guys think? I really appreciate your feedback. I am new to FTA and still learning.

you are correct.....DN LNB will not work for AMC 101w or any other true FTA satellite, you will need a linear LNB and probably a bigger dish also.....

Re: DishNetwork dish for FTA

I am going to post my questions under here since it has to do with DishNetwork. I am also sure these questions have been answered a million times. I have read the forum , but I am still confused on what to get or need. I just disconnected my satellite on 11/10/09 which was DishNetwork.

The Dish outside says: DishNetwork 500 and I have Two-TV DVR Satellite Receiver (which says on the front DP Plus 625).

1. Is it to soon to do FTA with the disconnect on 11/10?
2. What is or what would be the best equipment (receiver and would I need a differnt LNBF) to use with my dish that I currently have? I would like to get all the channels IF possible.
3. Would I need anything else besides one receiver? I would like to set it up for 2 seperate tvs if all possible.

Thanks in advance for you help and advice.

You would need two receivers lets say Nfusion Phoenix. You have a dish
500 which is a 20in.dish.Is this correct.You say 2 separate Tvs I take
it they will work independently from each other or do you just want 2
tvs in different rooms? If thats the case one receiver will do.For two
receivers you could get a Y yoke with two legacy dual LNbs and run the
two receivers with this. You also would need two 4x1 diseqec switches
one for each receiver. You can get them included with the receivers
in the purchase.Alot of Nfusion receivers come with them in the box.I,m
sure your dish 500 has a skew where you can rotate the dish to line up
110 and 119.So that is what you would need.Hope that answers your
questions.

Thanks in advance for you help and advice.
