Viewsat Xtreme, Antenna-Set-Up, No S or Q
INFO:
Description of problem:
After the last ECM on B3V, I downloaded and installed the new software.(after doing a default install) When I went to INSTALATION then ANTENNA, I selected Nimiq 1,3 01.0W as this is what I had been using (for a year and a half now) and I am getting no reading on the S and Q bar graph.. I exited and saved as asked, reopened and it has saved, but no readings. I talked to my brother by phone (cross-country) and he says when he enters SATELITE (same as mine) the satellite name also appears above the choice box in the light blue Antenna Set-up box above. This is not happening and I have no S or Q as I said before.
I have done a complete factory default twice (doing the default program 3 times each time) and installed DBPSW-070905X.PGM, hooked it back up and each time the same thing, nothing.
I have rechecked my dish for obstructions, n/p. I’m sure I have a signal as my 4 peasant vision channels are distorted when the satellite antenna is reconnected.
Receiver Model,,,,, Viewsat Xtreme
Software Version,,,,, DBPSW-070905X.PGM
Diseqc Setting,,,,, None
Dish/dish's__________
Lnb/Lnb's ,,,,, Type-standard,,,,,,,, Frequency-11250, my co-ax is into the LNB In port on the back
Network/Satellite,,,,, Nimiq 1,3 01.0W
Frustrated and tired of peasant vision,,,,,,,,,,Many thanx

You said you did a factory default, all this does is erases your ant settings. Load this factory file in your STB...
http://www.abadss.com/forum/174-view...7-extreme.html
after you load this, load this new file, yours is old file..
http://www.abadss.com/forum/174-view...w-070911x.html
then put all your dish settings back in and rescan. let us know how this worked...Also, you will need to become a VIP member to access the download section, go here...

Re: Viewsat Xtreme, Antenna-Set-Up, No S or Q
Hi, thanx for the replies mountaineer and jc7257, yes my LNB power is on. I got VIEWSAT_XTREME_V278.pgm, installed it, then installed DBPSW-070911X.PGM over it, set the satelite to Nimiq like before, the only other change I made was LNB TYPE to Standard, saved it, went back, still no S or Q. I tried again with VS2000_NEWOSD_XTREME_v2013_factory_bin.PGM and again DBPSW-070911X.PGM, and same as before, no S or Q
and still frustrated,,,,,,,,,,
Thanx again

Re: Viewsat Xtreme, Antenna-Set-Up, No S or Q
Is your lnb line hooked to the correct port on the receiver?

Re: Viewsat Xtreme, Antenna-Set-Up, No S or Q
i hope you have fixed your problem but if not, you have not said what type of lnb your using. You said you made a change there to standard.
If you have more than one eye that would be wrong, such as a dp or legacy, but if only one eye try universal.
Hope this helps

Re: Viewsat Xtreme, Antenna-Set-Up, No S or Q
Hi again mountaineer, I've got it going into LNB IN port, back of the unit, upper left above the IF OUT port. I assume that is the correct port
Hi Beefeater1, nope, I only got the one eye As for the type of LNB I was using, yes I changed that on the Antenna SetUp page, was that incorrect?
Thanx again guys and still frustrated, everything was fine until the change a week ago

Re: Viewsat Xtreme, Antenna-Set-Up, No S or Q
if you look it should be in the middle botton coax connector it says tv out .. but make sure your ports are correct ..
always shut off your reciever from the back to change cables around
also what lnbs are you using and if there is no signal then the connection from the cable is wrong somewhere .. send all your settings .. and lnb etc .. also what switch .. thanks

Re: Viewsat Xtreme, Antenna-Set-Up, No S or Q
Good morning tomcat01, many thanx for taking the time to reply and help
Now i'm getting confused, to add to my frustration,,,,,,,,,,,
OK, I have 3 ports on the back, as you look at it from the back, on the left side I have two ports, one above the other, the top port says LNB IN. Below that that is the IF OUT port. In the middle of the unit I have 2 more ports. The upper one is ANTENNA IN and the lower is TV OUT. I am plugged into LNB IN, is this incorrect?
Settings:
Satelite: NIMIQ1,3 91 OW
LNB Power: ON
LNB TYPE: Standard
LNB Freq: 11250
22 khz: Off
TP Freq: 12224
Search Option: On
DiSEqC 1.0: None
Motor: Off
Legacy SW: None
Thanx again all

Re: Viewsat Xtreme, Antenna-Set-Up, No S or Q
Sorry, that should read 4 ports, not three. Two on the left and two in the middle, as listed above.
Thanx again ya'll

Re: Viewsat Xtreme, Antenna-Set-Up, No S or Q
Hi porkchop1 on the middle two ports, my coax comes out to the TV, is this correct? Or am I confused here. My eye coax enters the upper port on the left marked LNB IN.
Now I did the F2 blind scan as you suggested and the lower S and Q bar graphs fluctuated with the different frequencies peaking around 55% on S at 13632 and the Q was intermittently pulsing between 0% and 100%
When it returns to the antenna set up page, both graphs read 0%
Thanx guys, I don't know what to think here now,,,,,,,,,,

Re: Viewsat Xtreme, Antenna-Set-Up, No S or Q
I had the same problem and fix it by putting 22Khz to ON.
I suppose the new bin changed this value.
I hope this will be your problem too.

Re: Viewsat Xtreme, Antenna-Set-Up, No S or Q
Thanx satinicsurfer, I gave it a whirl but nothing also. And thanx again to all who tried to help. From all the help, I made the assumption all the software was correct, which left me only with some sort of antenna problem. And that's what the receiver was telling me, No Signal. But I overlooked an antenna problem, because the dish hadn't been moved or adjusted. So to verify a signal, I purchased a $20 Signal Locater Meter (Deflection type) to rule out or confirm either an antenna problem or a cable problem. Well the meter didn't even light up like it was supposed to, when installed. So this got me reading some more as I questioned myself, "well where is the antenna power supplied from?" Discovering that the unit has a 13-18v DC output, I then got out my Fluke and found no DC output voltage from the LNB In port. So after all this I guess it's off to upgrade to a new Viewsat Ultra in the morning. N/P, the old Xtreme served me well for 2 years.
Again thanx to all the mods, assistants and members who assisted in the trouble shooting, together we eliminated what it wasn't until there where no more possibilities and the unit was right all along, "No Signal"
