sick of all these ECM'S lately? want to learn about channels that never get hit? - ABA DSS

Hey guys,ok all these ecms left and right suck.
though true fta channels may not be premium network channels,its still cool to have something for a backup plan while waiting.
the abadss blog has been updated,featuring 123w g10-r.take a closer look at this bird with some basic hardware requirements,general fta info and list of programs and events that play ALL the time with NO ECM hits.

so if i was to point a dish at this bird, i would get all the channels that are listed at the blog or site you just post. if so man there is a lot there. why would not get a 2nd dish or what ever you have to do to get this. lots of good channels if im reading it right

no no,6 to 12 foot dish for the C band.the C band would be a different topic,and different list of channels.
NOT those channels listed.
all you need in roughly a 33" dish.

FTA FREE To Air ABA Dss Blog - Unbeleivable!!! Very very good info!!! It sure makes you think. I really wish more people would read this kind of information and get a full understanding of what their " hobby to be" is all about.

from 3740 to 4180 frequency the channels are listed as being c-band just so everyone knows

tomorrow i'm picking up a dish with a linear lnb for galaxy 10. thats all i need right ? never setup this bird before. but you are the man, so i will follow what you say...does it ever go down ? that chart from lyngsat only shows american setup, what size dish would u need in say Toronto, can you tell from this Galaxy 10R at 123.0°W - LyngSat Maps ?

the programs he is referring to in that list all come from the local channels on the ku band frequencies, the show time m t v etc... are all on the c band frequencies and are digicipher/powervu encrypted. You can get the ku bands but not the c band channels. Think about it before you buy an extra dish. You can get your locals with an antenna.

right.that article is NOT for C band.
just for the KU band.and only the ones with an [F] (free to air)
about 16 English channels playing those shows listed.
on the weekends i catch movies on also.
its very good to have,as noted tho,do not expect premium channels.
they are all commercial based of course.and have paid programming on during the day allot.but as you can see,some cool stuff on during prime time and into the night.
all those channels [F] never go down.so year after year full time you have them.its worth the cost of the dish/lnb.
there is no epg for this bird either.you will have to channel surf.or use the internet guides that you can find.
don't expect the world.its just good to have also.
no ecm's EVER.
true FTA is a very fun hobby.its not just about watching tv.

there are also some educational channels on this bird
i use a 33"dish with motor and ku linear/circular lnb and he is right true fta is alot of fun, another interesting bird is galaxy 25 97w you can get aljazeera english

For many, I'm sure that's true, but some of us live in remote areas where reception with an antenna is a crapshoot. Getting a 2nd dish dedicated to FTA might be a good idea. Where I live, with a BIG roof antenna, on a rotor with an indoor control to move it around, I get ONE channel most of the time, 2 others sometimes, a couple of others now and then, if conditions are perfect, the moon's in the correct sign, and you lift your left foot off the ground, they sort of come in, if you're lucky. And, if I want to record something while I'm gone, I usually end up with static, because I can tune it in, but by the time the show airs, the signal's wandered off to one side a bit.
But if I paid for dish, I still couldn't get local channels, because they only do that in certain areas. Mine's not one because SOME people in my area get a good signal for locals. If I did qualify, I'd have to pay $2.99 per month per network, so that's $12 a month, for network. Still not truly local though, it would be Atlanta and San Francisco, so I'd still never get local news or weather. Wow. What a deal.

I don't know if the 33" dish aimed for FTA will get you local network, but at least it wouldn't cost $12 a month, and if the rest was down, at least you'd have something to watch. I might get a 2nd dish sometime so I can do that. At least I'd be able to record network shows while I'm not home, (using the timer on my stb,) and wouldn't just get static.

If a person has two old prime star dishes, are they of sufficient size to do the job from Georgia? Also, any recommendations of a brand of linier lnb is best?
I will set up if this will work.

there was a couple different size ones.(probably either one is fine yes)
what size is the one(s) you have?
also the lnb that came on those are linear yes.
so your probably all set.
tho some(if not all,not sure)had two outputs for vertical and horizontal.
all you need to do is combine both into a diseqc.

I think the dishes are either 36" or 38". The lnb's are pretty rusty and I thought I would buy a new one so I wouldn't have problems when I try to align. One lnb is single port and the other is a double. I have a switch.
