Can someone explain what is the 08/09 and 88/89 on DN keys?
Can someone please explain to me what the numbers 08/09 and 88/89 in the keys are for? And what do they mean? And why the first key is 08/09 and not 00/01 like in bev for instance?
08 xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx
09 xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx
88 xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx
89 xx xx xx xx xx xx xx xx
Note: I am asking this to learn their purpose so I may go onto figuring out what I need to put in front of the key for this new provider I added to the nagra definitions [DigitTV: provider ID 2111]
Thanks

Re: Can someone explain what is the 08/09 and 88/89 on DN keys?
08...1ST 8 SETS OF BYTES OF BEV KEY 00
09...LAST 8 SETS
88...1ST 8 SETS OF BYTES OF BEV KEY 01
89...LAST 8 SETS
the first set of number s provider ids but it is the encryption that they use to unlock tv these are hex adecimal numbers the satellite has these and they are dynamic (change ) they are sent down to the reciever and it has to unencrypt then to bring in video to your television ..
this is as best as i can explain in networking hexadecinal was broke down into binary 01010101010 to send data packets here i think it is the same .. my guess ..
hopefully some one can answer more for you

Re: Can someone explain what is the 08/09 and 88/89 on DN keys?
tomcat,
thank you for your response.
i've posted this thread to find out the purpose behind 08/09 and 88/89 in DN/BEV keys... to aid in figuring out what to enter in front of the keys in viewsat for DigiTV provider id: 2111
i began, by adding under nagra a new provider
for id I enter 21 space 11 space 00 (21 11 00)
then i have a new provider added,
now the key field is empty, so i add line1 of key
line1 contains space for 18 characters
?? ## ## ## ## ## ## ## ##
line2 contains space for 18 characters
?? ## ## ## ## ## ## ## ##
total lenght of a key is 32 characters,
?? represents what is normally with dev/bell 08/09 or 88/89....
## represents the digits for the keys
hope i didnt lose you...
current active key is
Digi tv
2111 00 74a3b1e95024a62d 90603438b285c0c7
01 a3158096931ced11 694f227c4bc6afab
how would i enter this?
would it start as:
08 74 a3 b1 e9 50 24 a6 2d
09 90 60 34 38 b2 85 c0 c7
88 a3 15 80 96 93 1c ed 11
89 69 4f 22 7c 4b c6 af ab
i am UNCLEAR if i have to put 08/09 and 88/89 in front of the keys.. i've noted what i am unclear of with a ?? -- as there is no entry in viewsat for digi-tv and no one uses a viewsat in europe, i need help figuring out what numbers go there to make the keys work.
?? 74 a3 b1 e9 50 24 a6 2d
?? 90 60 34 38 b2 85 c0 c7
?? a3 15 80 96 93 1c ed 11
?? 69 4f 22 7c 4b c6 af ab
thank you

q1) where did you find the latest key
q2) while i understand where i'd enter it
you have to note, in viewsat before i created it, there was no place for DigiTV to enter keys, i had to manually create a new provider and add it's id.
now when i do that, the key entry sheet/form is completely blank, when you press add new line it adds 9 groups per line, each group consists of 2 characters.
the 1st group in each line is what is confusing me,
i cant comprehend if digitv requires the first line to start with 08
second line to start with 09
so on so forth..
what do u think has to be the first group of characters??
08/09 or 88/89
or something different, for instance 60/70 or other

tomcat, i was able to piece together the answer to my question that i was seeking but no one really answered...
in viewsat, if we're working with nagra2 keys, there will be two keys key 00, and key 01
in lines 08/09 key00 has to be entered
in lines 88/89 key01 has to be entered
this is my guess, please someone confirm

08 is the first set of 00 keys.
09 is the second set of 00 keys.
88 is the first set of 01 keys.
89 is the second set of 01 keys.
