Receiver recommendation
Okay, I currently have a Neosat iPro 2000 and I'm wondering if there's another receiver brand that would work great as a backup/second receiver.
The Neosat is my first and I've been a bit frustrated with it, but maybe all receivers are down right now?
So, at a high level, does anyone like a particular receiver brand/model? Is it working today (that is, pulling in all channels)? Anything in particular that you don't like about it? Any special hardware required to set it up (for instance, I use a USB key to install BINs on my NeoSat). I'm not setup for IKS so I'd prefer something that I can easily load new BINs on. I'd also prefer something that isn't down as often as my Neosat (if there is such a thing) and I'd prefer one that when it is down generally speaking a new bin is available soon. I'm not looking for bells and whistles (like PVR), just want a picture (decent quality) and up most of the time.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. And thank you to everyone that contributes to this web site!

Re: Receiver recommendation
If you are not all that interested in HD features, why not consider a Sonicview 4000 or perhaps a Viewsat Ultra, both offer USB ports (easy updates) good support, nice features and an attractive price point.

Re: Receiver recommendation
I like Captiveworks, and since you don't care about the PVR I'd recommend the CW700. CW is one of the first to come out with fixes, right now all channels on dn and bev are working, but as with many other brands we are using a temp fix, and there is a slight delay when changing channels, but no freezing. But this should be resolved with the next fix.
The CW700 has usb port, and it's loaded with nice extra features, very easy to setup and use, and it's much cheaper then the other brands in it's competition. It's basically a CW800pvr without the pvr support.
Good luck on your choice

Re: Receiver recommendation
I'll go with CW700 because of the USB and good support and low price.

Re: Receiver recommendation
GH pretty much covered all the top units.
I test CoolSat 6100 & SonicView 4000.
Both have USB ports & good memory.
Both are totally different to setup up, when one is down, usually the other is still working.
CoolSat been around 2nd longest time & this new 6100 is completely automatic...so easy a caveman can do it. lol
Let me add this recent quote by GH in CS6100 section:
"Coolsat rocks and Thanks to Norw, as you know many other brands still remain down at this time like CNX, Captain, Neosat, Neusat..."

Re: Receiver recommendation
captiveworks are super fast with temp patches.
cw 600s premiums are very low cost.cw 700 for usb loading.
tons of features also.she's loaded and cheap to buy.
everyone should have a cw in the mix.
p.s they where first ones with fix last time also.
(couple days ahead of other popular ones)
neosat's not going for temp fixes.just the total full emu, thats why delay, and why they don't "appear" to have good support right now.
