I Am New To This Can Any One Help

I HAVE THE LOADER ALREADY DOWNLOADED I CLICK ON THE FILE FOR DOWNLOAD ZIP AND THEN WHEN I UNZIP THE FILE IT IS A FILE USING ACDSEE ANY WAY I HAVE A VEIWSAT EXTREME AND BEV/DN ARE DOWN AND WANTING TO TRY TO GET IT UP AND RUNNING MY SELF MY FRIEND WAS THE ONE FIXING IT FOR ME BUT HE Hs not come around so i need to do it myself so help me figure this out

What program are you using to unzip the files?
You will need WinZip or WinRar to do this.

You need the file that says PMG to download into the receiver. Do you have it?

This is the complete setup for extreme.

It's fairly easy but there is a sequence of event that must be used.
First you need Loader program in your computer.
Next get the latest Bin.
What is best is to set-up a folder so You can have the loader and any related files at the same place. No searching.
If you have the latest BIN it needs to be Unzip and extract the file named PMG to your folder.
Next it's recommend that you turn off the receiver from the back and bring to your computer if you can, to avoid confusion at the beginning.
Next Make SURE power is OFF from the back switch, then connect the Null cable at the back of receiver and then into the USB adaptor or directly into the Serial port of computer.
NOTE: If you use the USB adaptor you must have first installed the software for the adaptor.
Now start the Loader program,click on Open Files, this should open a Window and it's a matter of finding the folder where you put your program and files, chose the file named PMG and click on it. It will appear in Main software with the path where it is located.
Now at this time click on PC/STB and turn power on to your receiver from the BACK switch.
It should start downloading, it will take a few minutes and do NOT TOUCH ANYTHING, WAIT RIGHT TO THE END.
On some set-up it will show download complete on the computer and when you click on OK it does send a few more things to the receiver. Watch the window of the receiver and every time you hit OK (as it may come back a few times)
You better do it a few times and ensuring that you are completely done than locking-up your receiver.
Once completely done. SHUT OFF receiver at BACK, unplug from computer at USB and remove null cable.
Re-install receiver always making sure it's OFF before connecting anything to it.
Turn on your receiver and wait a few minutes for it to auto roll.

HOW TO FLASH.
You can flash (load) your receiver with a BIN on top of the BIN (file) you already have. It will replace it.
Use a Null CABLE RS232 on your receiver from the computer. Or use a Null adaptor from Radio Shack number 26-264B to make a straight through cable a Null cable. Take the cable off going to the LNB to be safe. If you don't have a 9 pin plug on your computer you may need to use a USB to Serial cable 26-183 at Radio Shack with a Null adaptor. If you need a 9 pin mail to mail gender adapter it is item #: 26-231. You will need to install a drive in your computer for the USB cable.

Un-zip all the files and hook up the cable from your computer to the STB , keep the STB off with the switch in the back. Start the loader-2 and click on OPEN FILES. Find the BIN file you un-zipped that now ends in PGM. Click on it and it will automatically go on the first line of the loader. Click on the icon just below the word TOOL and check the COM PORT. Then turn STB on from the back and at first light click PC->STB on the loader. If the progress bar don't move after about a minute start over again. Sometimes the timing is critical. Even try turning STB on from the back first then click PC->STB . Don't do anything as the progress bar is going across. Make sure the Computer & STB are done before you go to the next step. They may not get done at the same time. The receiver needs up to one minute to process the data, (DON'T RUSH THIS).

i have win zip and win rar i see the file pmg but when i click it goes to acdsee picture veiwer with a blank screen when i click choose program to word it a lot of jumbo any way i hope i amnot a lost cause

Hey harryncrystal with the Pmg file you have to follow the instruction posted in my previous post. If you follow those instruction you will be able to download the new Bin into the receiver.
