I belong to the official release site and nothing is being said about that, we are still being told that bins will be coming, be patient.

They will have bins, but they are always delayed by 2-3 days for the older models 4/5/6000.
This is done to discourage you from using the older models...are you discouraged yet?
If so, get a CaptiveWorks700S or SonicView4000 to keep up to date & get fast support.
Remember that soon all units will have full emulation...which means (when this time comes) all units (including CoolSat) will be up all the time...so don't get rid of them older units.

Re: is coolsat obsolete?
coolsat has good support. they used to be on top of there game all the time, but they have slowed down a little. but usually fixes for thier newer boxes come out first then 4,5, and 6 k come out.

Re: is coolsat obsolete?
CS 4,5,6 are no longer being made, but the support for them so far is still there, just very very slow. I like many others wait for a fix for them, the only solution is to not depend on this unit for main viewing and pick an alternate make of stb.

Re: is coolsat obsolete?
It would seem to me that FTA is trying to make us purchase newer units. nice ploy, but it isn't going to work on me. I will continue whining TYVM.

Re: is coolsat obsolete?
yeah they slack off on support because they no longer make those models.they no longer make money for supporting them.they will eventually drop the support of course.but thing is,coolsat will need to pick up the pace or those with these old models will simply go to other faster supported brands of course.
regardless of what you do.its time to move on.many great new stbs out there.take your pick.or just hang on with slow support for as long as it lasts.
but just remember if you do hang on,just remember abadss.com nor its moderators/members have anything to do with coding.its up to the coding teams.we have no control of it.

Re: is coolsat obsolete?
:****:If the cs 4K, 5K &6K aren't obsolete the CS coders are! I am tired of being patient and waiting for bins when everyone else is up and running. To hell with CS and their coders. If CS doesn't want my business VS apparently does. Flaming those bastards feels so good. Now I'm going to order the new box from Viewsat.

Re: is coolsat obsolete?
if coolsat is no longer making those models and there support w/ those models not being up to par, then why are they advertising the 5 k on this homepage this morning. just trying to get rid of inventory.

Re: is coolsat obsolete?
All of the CS models you spoke of are solid units, and they sold well.
The reality is that CS has thrown their focus behind the 6100 series (and up) and elected to let the support slide on the 6000 and below's.
A solid replacement, if you are on a budget would be the CaptiveWorks 700 unit. It offers USB support and excellent file support. And at $120.00, for a primary receiver, what's to think about.
You can always use the CS unit for a pure FTA play.

Re: is coolsat obsolete?
The NorW group now codes for nine different models of Coolsat alone. They also code for three other brands including Homesat, Visionsat and Nfusion. Possibly others. It is all a matter of priorities. Nfusion probably gets the most attention because its sole claim to fame is the "always up" image they are trying to promote. To those who have entered the hobby recently and are not familiar with DTV's lawsuits against end users, the Nfusion (and Neosat) carries the most potential risk in the event of future litigation since the IKS connection has a single purpose: the illegal decryption of protected content. In other words, IKS shows intent and in a court room, intent means liability. IKS users can be tracked in one of two ways. Through the IP address used for the IKS connection and through purchase records. The former is somewhat remote but the latter is not. If a dealer is included in a lawsuit (as has already happened in current DN litigation), their sales records will become available to the provider. If you used your real name and address or used an electronic form of payment (e.g., credit card or PayPal), you are potentially at risk.
To get back to the main topic, the most current receivers will always get priority attention and discontinued models will come last. Although the older models will undoubtedly continue to get "support" (unless posted by the coders to the contrary), it may not necessarily be in a prompt and timely manner. If you are not satisfied with that situation, move on and purchase an alternative brand/model and either dump the old one on fleabay or keep it as a backup. Complaining about it ad nauseum or posting repetitive posts every time a new ECM hits contributes absolutely nothing to the equation. Contrary to the hopes of some, the redundant complaints do not generate an incentive for the coders to come out with a fix any sooner.

Re: is coolsat obsolete?
I'm ordering a CW unit as well as a VS today. I've had enough of a wait. Since I bought my CS6000's in November, they've been down much more than up. CoolSat has made my introduction to FTA extrememly frustrating. I'm not giving up on FTA, but on CoolSat. They'll find that their inattention to support will cost them customers. I won't ever buy another one of their products. Support of the unit you buy is implied when you buy the product. Not gauranteed, but implied. Otherwise, why would anyone buy the product?
