As far as a decent lower cost receiver with PVR, you might want to consider the CaptiveWorks 800pvr unit.
It has decent file support and will not break the bank.

Try the CW800pvr unit, it cost around 130 bucks, and has good support too.

Re: So, what to do...what to do....
Yup, CW800 is the best PVR FTA box right now. Best support. Probably cheapest PVR ($120-140 shipped). You can use either a USB flash drive or FAT32 USB Hard drive with PVR. Very easy to set up. And have I mentioned possibly the best support?

Re: So, what to do...what to do....
Is there anything out there that is as good with out a PVR and about how much is the hard drive? Oh, and with the recent EMCs would it be smart to buy right now or should I wait a lil to see what's happening?

Re: So, what to do...what to do....
the cw 700s is non-pvr for $110
the hard drive depends on where you get it and what size you get
now is as good a time as any because there will always be hiccups in the dn/bev but true fta is always there fta is far from being over

Re: So, what to do...what to do....
Bigevil got it spot on. If you don't mind loading with a serial cable, get a CW600. VERY cheap ($80-ish) with the same support as cw700/cw800
