Re: from cs to new receiver
well thinkings over.
thats a wise choice there.
sv and vs are very well liked stbs.
yeah, just about all stbs are easy.they are just all a bit different thats all.
the ultra or the sv4k are popular standard non pvr models.

either sonicview or viewsat would be good choices both are user friendly and have great support.the best thing you can do is to do your homework on various stbs and find the one that suits you the best....good luck and enjoy

Don't forget the CW700 if you want to spend less money.

Re: from cs to new receiver
sv is just as easy to setup as your cs and with much better support. They just released the sv 360 elite its a pretty good box. The unit is pvr has 3 usb ports, pip and a dual tuner.

Re: from cs to new receiver
Hey yeah I am doing the same...been doing my homework for last couple of days and really leaning towards the VS just need to make sure it has usb hub for flash.
Plus hoping I can just replace the CS I had and not have to do anything else but simple sat scans.
My question would be would there be any problems having a CS and a VS on the same system. Shouldn't be a issue but never know.

Re: from cs to new receiver
the 3 brands mentioned above (vs, cw, and sv) are the most popular and have the best support. its just a matter of what you want (hd, pvr, or basic).
check out the receiver review section for a better idea.

Re: from cs to new receiver
I just got the CW 700 (didn't need recording capabilities) and it was pretty simple to switch. Was running a Pansat 2700A. Which ever receiver you get there will be differences, BUT, you already know how to run an FTA unit, that's over half the battle. Your dish is already pointed, so just plug the new baby in. There are so many experts here at ABA and which ever receiver you purchase go to that section and the set up is probably already there. There just a couple of tweaks and you will be running in no time. Good luck, enjoy and expertise is only a couple of keyboard strokes away.
