A 36 inch dish will be fine. You could even go down to a 33 inch if you wanted to. Always remember when it comes to fta that the bigger the dish the better.

If you live in the usa I would say nothing over 36" or 90cm should do just fine and a Ivacom lnb and a good motor heavy duty like pm900s pansat motor and real good cables

1st off Bill, no dish is over kill when it comes to its size working it for fta, the bigger the better. but I will give you another way to look, an that is C & KU-band a big dish like 10-foot. drive around the area that you live an see if any one has a big dish not in use, an alot of time you can get them for nothing, just by removing them out of their yard, then take it home an set it up, an the cost factor for concrete an a new lnb-f c & ku , will be cheaper, than a 90cm dish, motor, & qph-031. an you will get more stations by far, an a hole bunch more stations if you got a HD fta receiver.
Good Luck
Captain

Re: what size dish is "overkill" ?
where you are,and the birds your after i agree a 33"er will be good even.but if you can squeeze the wallet for a few more inches then go it buddy.39" for 123 or 97 in bullfalo, not needed tho.but hey,the more gain, the less rain fade when she storms.
tho i was reading from buddy woodcreaker (sorry if name is off-probably is) that there is a big shipping charge when going over the 36" dish limit.never checked on that myself.
anyway, bottom line, you dont have to worry about overkill.
THO!! now that im thinking about it.lets say you want to add a motor latter.well check into them and the prices, you wont want to get to crazy if you want to move it latter with one.
anywho.few more things for ya there.
and most of all.HAPPY BIRD HUNTING! its a blast!
