Motor or no motor?

Ok I have chosen to purchase a Sonicview 4000 based on some of your replies to my earlier question. (Thank you) Now as far as the dish I kind of have that figured out as well. My question is....How important is it to purchase a motor for the dish? aside from the climbing up and down a ladder. Will it actually move the satellite dish to the specific location of a particular satellite? This is all new to me so if it seems like a dumb question I apologize. I am truly fascinated by this and I am the type of person that needs to know every lil detail! OCD you know! I appreciate all the help!

Re: Motor or no motor?

if you want just 110,119,91 you don't need to get one but if you want to get a universal lnb and a 33 inch dish and do more testing than yeah a motor would be good and yes it does move to proper location ..with a motor you can hit alot more sats and not have to climb except for the first set up ..

Re: Motor or no motor?

yes it moves it to specific satellites, providing you set it up properly.....you can fine tune the dish (left and right) manually with your remote to get a better signal, then you can save that position so next time it will go there on its own.....

i would suggest you do alot of reading before attempting to install a motor, it is not as easy as it sounds unless you have some very good knowledge of how the sats sit in the sky, and the arc they are on depending on your location.....

you should also have a MINIMUM 33 inch dish......

i would also suggest spending the extra money to get a very good quality motor.....as with most things in life.....you get what you pay for......buy cheap, buy twice

Re: Motor or no motor?

I bought a pansat motor for my setup PM900S they say it was a workhorse last year when I got it and a fortec star dish 34 inche but they say there are better dishes then that but it setup was easy with my CW800pvr set the motor mount to due south and hooked it up and set it to the motor sheet from pansat and all I had to do was change elevation on the dish it knew where the sats were already and setup for me was lucky but I already had a sat tree in the back yard looks much better now a lot cleaner to look at and about 1500 channels on 9 sats get ready to do it let us know where here to help also Ivacom lnb

Re: Motor or no motor?

Motor is only good for one FTA box. Two cannot control one motor ( unless one is off) because the motor moves toward 1 sat at a time.

Re: Motor or no motor?

Starting out with one fta reciever, go for a moter.
Can add fixed dishes later or some switch configurations will allow more.
Make sure to get sg 2100 moter
Make sure to get fortec star dish (works best with moter)
39" is nice will pick up everything in your area and give good reception.
sonicview 4000 works excellent with a moter !!
