That's an easy one friend.
Get the CoolSat 6100 for a buck.
You will love the new features, including Auto Setup.
Support is good too.

* The 7100 cost more & records. (like Tivo)

The CoolSat 4000 / 5000 / 6000 are all crap!
That's no secret.
I already told you what you should get...but do as you like.
The new CS6100 is the cheapest, easiest, and most user friendly.
But jump ship if you want to.
The exchange program is not so good a deal. (after you wait & pay shipping both ways. (but for a bill, ebay will save you $)

If you are hell bent, not to go with something you already know, then I would get the Sonicview4000...but you will not like how it is different.

I help a lot of older folks with TV & non of them have computers, and don't even know how to work a PC, so I got them the CS6100, because it is so easy. (with Automatic Setup) They all love it & me too for hookin' them up. (Satellite for Dummies)

Pansats have good support usually just after some other makes lately, but things do change they were first a few months ago.

The CaptiveWorks has a 600 / 700 / 800.
And like most units, offers different models.

The 600 is similar to your old CS6000.
The 700 is PVR to record...and you will spend big $ for a hard drive to use the record feature...big $.
The 800 is HD & more big $ 'cause you need a HD TV to use it & it requires a modification to make it work. (like all HD units)

Overall, CaptiveWorks is a cheaper made unit than CoolSat...and you get what you pay for.
I'm talking about picture quality & features.

Nothing has the quality (for the money) as CS6100...but don't believe me.
Find out for yourself...

PanSat was the first FTA & they been on top for years.
CoolSat was the second oldest company...and PanSat has been lost in the past.
But CoolSat is still on top.
All their models have been redesigned internally to prevent cloning.
The CS6000 was replaced by the CS6100.
The CS7000 PVR was replaced byCS7100 PVR.
The CS8000 HD was replaced by CS8100 HD.

The older units still work just fine (except CS4000 lacks enough memory for current large bin files)
The only problems they have is lack of support. (bin files)
The lack of support was done on purpose, because of all the clones.

Too many people confuse this issue & think that all CoolSat support is bad because the old units have none now.

The only good PanSats are some of the newer models just out this year.
Most of the older stuff suffers from the same "lack of memory" problems as the older CoolSat4000.
If you got one...run it 'till it turns into a doorstop. (if you can support it)
But if you spending new money for FTA...move on to something newer & better.
SonicView / NeoSat / CoolSat

NO...support will continue strong.
Read above posts to learn more.

* Don't feel so bad...my mother only had her CS6000 3 months before it was a doorstop. She ran a CS4000 forever & had just upgraded for better EPG.

I promise you will love the CoolSat6100
Buy one and if you don't like it, I will buy it from you!
Anybody else make an offer to you like that?
