Power Passing Splitters

Sorry if this is been asked before. I have searched on Google and the forums here and cant seem to find any definitive answers.

My question is about power passing splitters.

I’ve seen some splitters have the term ‘power passing’ on them. Some single port passing and others all port power passing.

I am just curious for what applications these types of splitters are used for?

I have heard you can split a satellite signal feed to wire two multi-switches in parallel to get more receiver outputs.

But which type do you use for this? The single or all port power passing?

Also I am curious what are the other uses for these types of splitters besides wiring multi-switches in parallel?

it seems splitters do not work for fta stb's. if you own a dish 500 with a dish pro plus lnb you may find a DPP seperator may work for your application. good luck and happy testing.
