looking for clarity
I have an 18" elliptical dish that was installed by my provider. It has 3 lnbs. I would like to use this and purchase my first stb to go with it.
First, can I even use this type of dish? If so can I get more than one sat (110/119 etc)? Can I get HD? Am I restricted in what kind of stb I can buy?
This is clearly a great site, I am just a little overwhelmed with jargon still. Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes you can use it, you can get three sats, and for hd you will need a HD receiver!

Re: looking for clarity
If your provider is Dave, and the Dish/LNB is a Phase 3, don't bother. Real pain in the butt to catch much.

My provider is/was DirecTV. and that does look like my lnb.
So I'm out of luck for using this, right? If so, what is my best/cheapest option for a dish?
Thanks again, I really appreciate all your help.

If your going HD, get the Dish 1000.2 for Dish net. It will get 110, 119, and 129 for the HD channels. take a look at this...
