Will the bubble type sat dishes made for RV's work with FTA?

no. your dish would need to have some sort of gps system, so it could constantly rotate, skew and elevate to keep in line with the satellites.
you're probably looking at one that picks up over the air signals, which would include HD, if the local provider broadcasts them.

The RV will be parked when the receiver would be turned on. Buddy of mine keeps his RV in a campground all year, and stays there on weekends. The one he has will automatically find the satellites. He's using it for DTV now, but would like to know if he could use it with FTA also.

Hi. These are just too small for the kU FTA sats out there, they generally will only pull in the DSS sats like DTV/DN.
