Considering a multi-lnb setup

Hi all,

After having a motorized dish with a 36" dish and Invacaom LNB for about a year I am considering to switch over to a multi-lnb setup. The motor is a nice feature, but 2 main reasons are steating me away from it:

1) Wind: Ever so often the wind knocks the dish out of allignment and I have to get back up there and re-align it. Since it is a mount connecte to a motor connected to a dish, there are many weak points where wind ends up moving it.
2) Alignment: Even with the motor, I frequently found that some birds will give me a great signal, but when I shift over to another sat, I need to adjust my dish vertically a little for metter signal. Thus never get optimal signal for all my birds.

Ok, so I am looking at setting up a multi-lnb dish (or 2).

Which dish do you sugest for a multi-lnb setut that will work well with circular or linear birds?
Does it have to be a parabolic dish or not?
Any sugestion on some brackets that will give me LOTS of lnb connectors?

both of your so called "problems" can be easily solved if you take a little bit of extra time, care, and pre-cautions when setting up your motor/dish.....

these motors are designed to work properly, for very long periods of time even in the worst possible weather conditions.....

your motor and/or dish should never require any manual adjustments after the initial setup.....i have not touched my motor or dish since i set it up over a year ago......never one problem......and we frequently get heavy winds here and my dish has no shelter from it......

if your motor or dish are swinging out of position then you can install extra bolts to hold them in position.....

i drilled a 3/16 hole through my motor bracket and all the way through the mounting post......then installed a 3/16 nut and bolt through the hole......this prevents the motor from ever turning on the mounting post.....

a similar type bolt can be installed on the motor shaft.....

your problems are very simple to solve and are not really a good reason in my opinion to give up on your setup.....i guess its up to you if you want to spend the time to fix things......

in any case these problems are not related to your hardware.....this is simply a case of user/installer error......

I would still improve the motor dish, using bill of oz suggestions above, and keep it for being able to get virtually anything in the sky.
Then, I would add a fixed dish, with no more than 4-5 LNBs, since the signal gain drops down for LNBs positioned more distant from the central focal location.

For a bracket I would suggest something like this:


It has 2 axis rotational, 2 axis sliding movements and LNB axial (SKEW) adjusments.

or just google on eBay for LNB bracket, LNB Converters.

Depending on what LNB and switch you may have with the motor dish, replacing it, or adding another switch, would enable easy combining the motor dish and fixed dish signals to a comon cable run to the receiver.

I would also think of having all Standard/Legacy - Dual LNB models for the fix dish, as this would enable future expanding for multiple receivers.
