SKY Mexico on Intelsat 9
I am trying to get SKY Mexico. I have a chaparral universal linear ku lnb, and a neosat ipro2000 on their way. Is there anything else I will need besides IKS?? My dish does not seem to have te ability to skew. Anyone know if the dish has to be skewed to pick up this bird??

Have you determined how large your dish needs to be?

I don't know how big. I have a 33 inch. I think it should be good enough.

Re: SKY Mexico on Intelsat 9
Yep. I am on the footprint. Located near san francisco. After i setup the dish and aim it at 58 W, I would need to setup IKS with my neosat and my router right?? Do they connect automatically, or do I need to set them up??
Thanks for you help guys

Re: SKY Mexico on Intelsat 9
You are in the proper footprint where you are located. Skew is a subtle term here for turning your LNB slightly to maximize your signal. The dish bowl reflector and mounting can remain level.
The LNB would be rotated this way 28.4 degrees, which is just about like 5 minutes on a clock. This will help you get a little better signal when adjusting your dish. Keep in mind this skew is dependant on everything else being dead level from the mast arm, left and right and on the up and down, for best results.
It is not that picky of an adjustment, it just helps a little...
Hope This Helps Too !!

Re: SKY Mexico on Intelsat 9
Hey thanks. The only thing is that my dish does not have the dish bracket to skew it. I had it setup with a Motor, which did not need any skewing. What can I do to make by dish be able to skew??

Re: SKY Mexico on Intelsat 9
I guess you didn't understand my post above. There are 2 skews. One skew is turning the dish, that is what you are talking about. The skew I am talking about is rotating the LNB. Rotating the LNB slightly (LNB skew) helps get you a better signal. The LNB is generally mounted by the neck of the LNB, just loosen the LNB mount and turn it, angle it slightly as I pointed out above.
You do not necessarily need the Netgear XE102 and a wireless router if you can get by with running a CAT5 cable from your receiver to your existing router. Most use the wireless method so they are not tripping on cables. That choice is up to you.
Hobbies are expensive, too. This one is not too bad. You ought to stay away from restoring cars or building wind generators. I am sure building monster trucks is out of the question.

you skew the LNB.....NOT the dish !!
intelsat 9 will be very hard to get if you are on the west coast......it might be too low on the horizon

Re: SKY Mexico on Intelsat 9
Hey there:
The Netgear XE102's are a breeze to work with in conjunction with a Neosat / router set up.
Basically, you would have two (2) XE102's, your router, 2 short pieces of straight through CAT5 (LAN) Cable and the Neosat Unit .
Near the PC/Router you would plug one of the XE102's in to an AC (Wall) outlet (not a power bar) then connect the XE102 to your router via a short piece of straight through LAN cable.
At the TV end of things, you would plug in the other XE102 (again in to an AC (Wall) outlet (not a power bar) then connect the XE102 to your Neosat via a short piece of straight through LAN cable.
Instant Network!
The XE102's utilize the copper wire in your walls to piggy back the signals from the router and deliver them to the nfusion as needed) making this a psuedo 'wireless' solution.
Best of all, they are very easy to work with and are a very neat and tidy solution to your application.
Trust me, they work great!

Re: SKY Mexico on Intelsat 9
I'm a little confused about installing the dish myself since I'm a noob.
Where do they sell a compass? I want to buy it at a store and not online. I can't wait for the shipping anymore. I'll be getting the dish this friday. I'm excited.
