PVR7k Initial Set-Up Help Vista

Hi I have been trying to set up my pvr7k for weeks now and I have tried everything. I am running a vista computer and when I drop the pgm file into the /Upgrade File folder using USBExplorer i get a blue screen and vista crashes. I cannot use the null modem cable b/c my comp has no serial port. I have installed XP on my partioned hard drive to try and upgrade but xp does not recognize that the PVR is connected when i connect it. I have d/l the usb drivers but i am unsure do they need to be opened? Windows has stopped prompting me to install the drivers. Vista recognizes the PVR as connected but neither of my XP computers does. Please help!!!
