Motorized setup....

I'm gettin scared with the big hit coming....

Will the SV360 control a motorized dish, or is there another box required for the motor?

Re: Motorized setup....

dont fear. yes. It has DiSEqC 1.2 and USALS control (or should have)

a 33" FTA Dish and Universal Linear LNB isn't that tough to set up. As long as your mounting pipe is absolutely plumb (vertical) it is pretty easy. I'm dumb and I got it to go in less than 2 hours.

well then I should be done before the commercials are over j/k

obviously it depends on the dish motor and other variables, but how long does it take for a motorized setup to travel say 10 degrees

Re: Motorized setup....

actually i have used all the newer sv and they run a motor great and have a great blind scan . now they have a bit weaker power to lnb so i would suggest a 36 inch dish .. if you are in a cold climate i say a hh120 but i have a freind who uses a sg2100 and loves it worked well in the cold also ..

as for the spped it is very well takes about 15-20 seconds from 61.5 to 148 not long .. so good luck

note make sure that you read more about what motor will move what size of dish say a hh90 i think will run a 36 inch max or mabe a bit bigger canot remember but just make sure bud .. someone here can tell ya .. for sure

Re: Motorized setup....

There are also LNBs available with dual polarity outputs, one output circular and the other linear, so you can get both types of sats with just one antenna ... and if you think you may ever want to have two receivers connected to your moving dish, there are even ones with quad outputs with two of the outputs being circular and the other two linear, one of each type for each receiver. This would allow you to record something on one channel while watching another, but of course both channels would have to be on the same sat since you could only have your dish pointed at one sat at a time. In order for you to be able to record something on one sat while watching something on another, you would of course have to have two dishes ... wow, just think of it! That would be the best setup ever, having two moving dishes with dual polarity LNBs on each one!

look at the motor specs before you buy, they tell you the rotation speed....the sg2100 is the fastest motor i have used, i believe the specs are 1.8-2.5 degrees per second.....

the STAB motors are the slowest i have tried.....

the speed also depends on if your tuned into a vertical or horizontal TP while switching sats.....the horizontal TPs move the dish faster because they are 18V.....vertical TPs are only 13V so the dish will move slower.....

moving from 110-119 for example is normally very quick, and sometimes barely even noticeable, i would say 2-3 seconds.....

however if you are going from say 61.5 to 129 then that can be a bit of a wait.....but it is worth it.....its nice and clean looking to get everything on one dish.....once you go motorized you will never go back.....you will love it.....

just follow this guide step by step and let us know if you have trouble.....
