Is it worth paying for Invacom LNB?
Does having Invacom LNB improves the signal Qty that much in real world?
I saw a Invacom LNB reviewat Invacom SNH-031.3 LNBF Review?
is it just over rated? I am looking one for a fixed (non-motor) Dish. What is your thoughts?

Re: Is it worth paying for Invacom LNB?
The Invacom is a very popular LNB that supports, both circular & linear signals (DSS & FTA birds); haven't read anything negative about it; guess that's a positive;

Re: Is it worth paying for Invacom LNB?
why gamble with lnb's. the invacom is the best one on the market for both types of signals. you know that old saying , you buy cheap you end up going to spend more. I recommend putting out the extra coin now, so you dont have to fork out more later on.

Imo, if your not going with a motor, then there is no reason to spend this kind of money. Perhaps you may want HD, then a dish 1000 may be better, for around the same price.
Really it all depends on your end goal. Mine is for the meantime to go with a motor and a invacom for true fta reasons. My fixed dishes can stay where they lie.
Again, just my 2 cents.

Re: Is it worth paying for Invacom LNB?
You need the 30"+ dish for FTA; can't go wrong with the Invacom LNB; plus, you can add a motor later to complete your setup and have the best of both worlds from one ANT/LNB; let the Dish 500 in place for sub, HD and/or testing later;

Re: Is it worth paying for Invacom LNB?
No need for an Invacom LNB unless you are going for True FTA and have a bigger dish on a Motor.
If you are having signal strength issues, get a bigger dish.
I have a 1 meter dish on a motor and an Invacom Quad LNB which is great setup for True FTA sats such as 97w and 123w and WhiteSprings TV on 129w
A 4x1 switch allows you to switch between Circular and Linear sats as the LNB is a 2-1 type that gets both.
But no need to spend $60.00 for an Invacom LNB unless you need an LNB that is capable of receiving both Linear and Circular sats.

what improves the signal quality is a low noise figure.....the noise figure on the invacom LNB is 0.3db.....which is pretty low.....
but asking the question "Does having Invacom LNB improves the signal Qty that much in real world?" is kind of pointless, because it would depend on what your comparing it too.....
thats like me saying my car is better than yours without even knowing what kind of car you have.....
so if you compare the invacom LNB against an LNB with a 0.5db noise figure, then the answer would be yes, the invacom would give you a bit better signal quality than the other LNB.....
if your using a fixed dish then there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to buy the invacom LNB.....im not knocking the invacom because its great for motorized dishes, i have one myself.....but its really a waste on a fixed dish because if you search around hard enough you can find linear LNBs with an equal noise figure of 0.3db or even lower at 0.2db.....and these LNBs will probably only cost you less than 20 bucks......
if your signal quality is low with a standard LNB of 0.2-0.3db then you are either not aimed properly, or your dish is too small for the satellite you are trying to receive......and in either one of these cases the invacom LNB will not increase your signal quality.......

Re: Is it worth paying for Invacom LNB?
I also noticed that you referenced the Invacom SNH-031, which is a "Universal" type LNB.
Not sure what your needs are, or which sat you are trying to obtain but I would check and see if this LNB will meet your needs.

Re: Is it worth paying for Invacom LNB?
All good points above; the net net is the Invacom is great LNB, and intended, for a motorized setup; if you're not going to add a motor don't spend the extra $$; the same quality of linear signal can be had for half the price

I am talking in General, also when comparing.... I am talking about $20 generic typical LNBs.
I also talked to dealer, he mentioned the same thing that invacom only for motor dish.
Can someone explain why Motor, what makes invacom better choice for motor?

Invacom lnbs in general are not better for motorized dishes, only the invacom quad lnb,
The quad lnb can receive both circular and linear signals, this is why its a good choice for a motorized dish,
If your talking about a standard linear lnb, then invacom are not really any better than a generic brand, this is assuming both lnbs have the same db noise figure

Re: Is it worth paying for Invacom LNB?
why motor? because if you are motorized with a invacom quad lnb , you do not have to change the lnb at the dish itself to get linear sats or circular sats. one lnb dual purpose.

Re: Is it worth paying for Invacom LNB?
That makes lot of sense guys & it clears up lot of confusion related to it.
so for fixed, if I just get generic LNB with same db noise ratio, they should get identical signal qty?
why pay $80 for LNB when you can get similar for $20 or less?

Re: Is it worth paying for Invacom LNB?
My experience with the QPH-031 was unfortunately a bad one. The thin orange plastic covering the feed-horn opening broke on mine letting in rain water & destroying it. Since my 36" motorized dish is up on a 24' roof I have no idea what caused it ( curious bird, roofer vandal ). Since I rarely went to linear sats I just replaced it with a cheap legacy lnb & my signal actually seemed to improve. With the recent developments I may actually try again with a replacement that been gathering dust for a couple of yrs. to see if anythings on those linear sats.

My answer is yes!
It really is the best & worth it.
But you really "miss the boat" without a motor.
Only another $80. and you can get them all buddy!
Also don't forget that "bigger is better" when it comes to your dish size. (if you want to pull more birds from farther away)
The advantage of this LNB is that it can get both linear & circular signals.
I think you should get the QPH-031. (not the SNH-031)
