I have a opportunity to get a BUD and all it needs is a LNB. What birds are available and any good channels? Thanks

Re: C Band BUD Available Channels
I have been tooling around lyngsat. I was unsure what I could get with my FTA receivers. I know or remember the days of 4dtv when there was c band channels worth watching.

Re: C Band BUD Available Channels
coolies are good ones.
my visionsat works great too.
with my VS's models i can only get 50% or less channels.
i think there is a good thread by arbor about good stb's for true FTA.
you can do it with VS or SV but there are even close to the best ones for that kind job.

If you mean real c-band programming, there are only a few freebies but most are shopping and religious channels now. There are two companies you can get a subscription to callnps.com and skyvision.com (who is probably a customer of NPS. Also it requires an 4dtv receiver. It runs on Motorola's propriatary system called digicipher II that has never been beaten that I know.
If you want to use it for DVB FTA I'm sure you will get in a crystal clear reception but you need a separate device to move the dish's actuator arm. Maintenance is a beeeatch. I have one.

Re: C Band BUD Available Channels
I would take all the suggestions that all of our learned people have provided you with and then go to the stb sites that you feel will interest you and see what their STB's have to offer. Quite a few will do both Ku and C band so its the best of both.
Not sure what is detailed about getting and installing this BUD but if it is nominal, no brainer. TV forever.

Re: C Band BUD Available Channels
You can get a feed horn off of ebay for a good price. You will need a prime focus feed horn. Or You can also upgrade the present feedhorn with a digital lnb ( more expensive). I did this already with mine. I then changed to a prime focus feed horn that is more for FTA. It has Ku lnb and the C lnb combo. (paid around 50 for it) With it I can move more freely from sat to sat. I can scan for Ku band along with C band. check with Lyngsat for channels.
Keep the old c band receiver, you will need it to move the dish.

Re: C Band BUD Available Channels
I guess my answer wasn't as good as the others by the amount of thanks that other posters got while I got none. Sorry if I didn't help. My 15 years experience with c-band doesn't hold a candle to someone who says "right, yep, way to go"......

Re: C Band BUD Available Channels
We had one that sat idle for a while b/c the actuator arm broke. I got a wild hair & bought a WS241 (cband only) & lifted the dish by hand and found 91w (it has the EWTN feeds, which my wife likes & the CW east, west & mountain feeds) plus 99w which presently has the Caribbean feeds for the 5 major networks. And apparently there are a lot of wild feeds on cband also, though I don't have a means of electrically moving the dish. My cost $13 shipped for the lnb, $36 including shipping for 2 coolsat 4000s.
