Recomendations for a new 36" dish
My eliptical 30X36 dish is toast! No need to get into details other than to emphasize it is mechanically in junk condition.
OK, I was not overjoyed with its performance anyway but now I need to replace it. I think I need a ROUND dish. I see a host of these things over on fleebay but they are pricey at over $100 when shipping is included. Some I noticed have braces that make them appear stronger.
What have others purchased along with ball park cost? Are you pleased with your dish? I considered something larger such as a 39" but my location makes that choice out of the question.
Tree....... after what happened to my dish, no bark left on me

Re: Recomendations for a new 36" dish
Suggest a 36 or 39" Fortec Star dish wich sells for about $40 to $45 plush shipping and it will include a Linear LNB (Poor quality). I use the 39" dish with a SG2100 motor for my system and and Invacom Quad LNB. The dish comes with Braces.

Thanks V--
I will look for a Fortec. I don't need the lnb because I like you have an Invacom Quad, what I need is the #$%^ dish. I cannot describe what happened to the one I was using. Its destruction was an accident and the guy is will to pay for it but.....Where this is being installed I am pushing my luck using a 36" so I dare not go larger. OH, this will be installed on an SG2100.

Re: Recomendations for a new 36" dish
Try to find one locally, like on craigslist as shipping can easily double the cost.
I bought a new 1 meter dish from a local seller for $60.00
And if I may, I highly recommend the PowerTech DG-280 Motor.
I've used a few different motors and this one has been by far the best.

Bill-- it very well may be the best but I look at the arm that supports the lnb and it appears to be unsupported. That lnb mounting arm has a long mechanical moment. Still I am considering it.

Re: Recomendations for a new 36" dish
Well I did consider the Fortec but again, I was really concerned aboiut the long unsupported arm used to hold the lnb. The dish does have impressive numbers along with a galvanized coating followed by paint.
Instead I purchased the WS9036D (36") from Galaxy mainly because that particular dish has a supported lnb arm. Was it the best choice??? Who knows! No need to ponder forever on a simple purchase.

Bill--- The Fortec appears to be a very good deal and I indicated so in my earlier posts. But no matter how strong that lnb arm appears, it is unsupported. I only want to do this thing one last time. I don't want to wake up some morning without being able to get 123 or whatever satellite because a herring gull decided to land on the arm and cause it to have a position shift. Heck, we have wild turkeys around here.

Re: Recomendations for a new 36" dish
Those larger dishes can catch some wind, so spend a few bucks on the unit that is more rugged. Better in the long run.

V--- every picture shown in their advertisements lacks supports for the lnb arm. Yes, I understand there are supports for the base but not (to my knowledge) for the lnb arm. I would include some URL's but the site does not permit them.

Re: Recomendations for a new 36" dish
I do not think the picture makes perfect. Why dont you call or email them and ask if it does or not have supports. I definitely got mine. Two arms to hold the Post.

Re: Recomendations for a new 36" dish
I prefer the Hotdish 90. Size and materials are everything in a dish and the Hotdish 90 is bigger than the competitors. Check this out, actual size in cm
HOTDISH90 90cm 90 x 99
Fortec 90cm 85 x 94
GeoSatPro 90 85 x 93.5
The HD90 is also 0.7 mm thick before powder coat, others are not.
And, the HD90 tooling was just re-done 100%. All dishes are stamped of course and the tooling wears over time and the dish loses its shape which is very important for performance. The Hotdish 90 tooling was recently re-made so these dishes are as perfect as can be.
And you can get them under $100 shipped anywhere in 48 states.

My comment is they need to improve there advertisement. This is history for me now because I have a dish on order and it is not Fortec.
