Help from Sonicview
We continue to have many members having problems getting the latest upgrade with Wiznet and file 1.4. Really it is out of hand and we are not giving many solutions .
Can we get someone from ABA to represent us and contact Sonicview Team to give some help for this large problem.
We need as many members as possible to comment on this issue to show our support and our needs.

WTG Basscat. Good thing about you is that after you understand the issues, you are usually able to translate the answers into English. (Or at least cajun )

Re: Help from Sonicview
I assume you mean the coders for SV. Cause Sonicview(the STB Manuf) really couldn't care less about the Ihub problems. They are not allowed to.
Now, the coders, that's another thing altogether.
.
I seriously think that the problem is on the Utility end, and how the Wiznet Utility interacts with each individuals setup(type of modem/router, type of connection, dsl vs cable vs dial-up.) Also I think lots of people don't have ORIGINAL IHUBs. If you paid much less than $99US, it's likely not an original IHUB. It may have performed like one in the beginning, but with the Ihub update(WIZNET), maybe it weeds out the Bogus ones, just a thought.
.
This morning I screwed with my Ihub real good. Changed settings in Wiznet etc etc, changed settings in my STB IHUB settings(zeroed everyhting), to see if I could get a pic. NO GO.
ONE THING I did learn. If you change the settings in the STB IHUB, you have to change the info in the Wiznet Utility. IE: I changed the DNS IP to the old 77.93.75.115 in my IHUB STB settings. Wiznet would not perform the SEARCH cause the Wiznet settings had been saved using the 77.93.75.89.
ANYHOW, I put all setings in IHUB STB back to the original settings and the Wiznet Utility also, to 77.93.75.89.
All is good. Watching TV.

Re: Help from Sonicview
You got it Zeke, although I believe they should give a **** since we are their bread and butter. Also hoped it would stimulate some interest from the coders, etc.

Re: Help from Sonicview
Couldn't agree more.
Here's a thought, I'd like to know if any members paid less than, lets say $80 bucks(volume discount isn't that good anyhow, I checked). Cause a real Ihub costs $99US.
Those that paid much less, I'd go ALL-IN and bet they are bogus Ihubs.

Well, it is hard to admit that we are not getting much help out to members on this thing. That is the part that bothers me the most

Re: Help from Sonicview
I believe Zeke's point is dead on; I believe that the vast majority of the problems people are having is within their environment; the vendor's can't do anything about that; that's what this ABA peer environment is for and does best;
The individuals have to take it upon themselves to follow the many detailed threads provided and then start and man their thread to drive the issue to fruition; and the issue may turn out to be a deadend in their environment; this 'solution' is definitely not plug-n-play; it requires a 'testers' mentality and too many members are not equiped and/or not approaching the exercise with that mindset;

Re: Help from Sonicview
I have read that the DNS for the svftaiks does not resolve correctly on the server side, and thus creating problems for people with ISP's that do not update the DNS frequently. Makes sense as on one of my sites the DNS was changed on the host end but I was not able to gain access to my site unless I used a proxy that was given by the host.
The ihub is not very user friendly in the sense that not all users are computer wiz's and may not fully understand the process that needs to be taken to make a connection.
If the iHub team wrote the bins to be more automatic with less user input I believe they would be far better off.
People also need to understand that as any form of IKS users, they are slave to many exterior forces that may play a factor in a connection.( ex. server updates, crappy hosting, offshore may cause extra hops that can affect connection..... and so on...)
The iHub team IMO is doing a great job in a very timely fashion getting things running, and I believe they are easy to trust as their history in support has been excellent.

Re: Help from Sonicview
I'm very disappointed in the Ihub.. I've yet to get it to work.. after I tried the new wiznet & 1.4, now I have that v82.0 problem and now I can't get the ROMO100 file to load.. finally I said f-it...
Thanks to everyone here at ABA who tried to help me get it going..

Re: Help from Sonicview
I was almost ready to scrap the ihub,Spent the first day trying different things
without success, I had to use static ip instead of dchp to get it working,
was apprehensive about the wiznet upgrade ,but it went fine,
mine was 25.00 cheaper than the going rate.

Re: Help from Sonicview
I feel lucky I'm up and I don't know crap about computers. I did read this somewhere, and maybe it's why I up. so try this. go to the wiz1 thing and hit search. then when that window comes up, select option. the top left you'll see a window that says inactivity time. change that number to 0. then hit exit to save, it supose to help with freezing. By the way I'm running pretty good right now in static mode
