iHub data usage?????
Hello. I was wondering if some kind helpful person could answer a question for me. How much data usage does the SonicView ihub dongle take up in a 24 hour peroid.
I have looked for some time about information but have been unable to find anything.
I ask this question because my internet service provider is verizon wireless, mobile broadband . I have the 5gb a month data plan, I know it sucks but it is the only option I have for internet at my house. I live up in the mountains and am totally self sufficant (ie....solor power, well for water).
If anyone can inform me on the data usage by the ihub, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Re: iHub data usage?????
I can't find the post, but someone had asked the same question about a month ago. Creative Genius actually figured out how much one would use and it didn't come anywhere close to 5gb. I think you're safe especially if you disconnect when you're not watching tv.

Huges has satellite Internet that will work any where and is faster than anything else out there.. so you do have at least one other option..

yeah i know about hughes net, but their service is terriable and to expensive. A few of my friends have hughes net and the service is usually really slooooooooow, sometimes it gets up to around 200kb a second but most of the time it runs around 2.3kb a second. Coupled with the fact that it is at least 100 dollars a month, and still has a data limit (I think it's 7GB a month) and they have to come to your house and install a dish, I will never be a hughes net customer. But thanks for suggestion.
Thanks to everyone that helped answer my question! I ended ordering a ihub and a cradlepoint cellular router to use with it.
So now I have to learn about setting up the ihub.
Thanks again everybody!

Re: iHub data usage?????
How much data does an IKS unit typically download?
Q. How much data does a typical IKS unit typically download from the internet? Will I go over my bandwidth limit?
A. Most IKS units use 60 bytes every 20 seconds to function.
1024 bytes = 1KB (kilobyte)
1024 KB = 1MB (megabyte)
So, at this rate the IKS uses approx. 10.5kb per hour or 253 kb over a 24hr period.
To illustrate, if you were to leave your television on 24/7 for 30 days it would use 7593 kb or 7.4 MB over that entire span of 720 hrs that your TV and IKS was on.
As such, based on simple math, it is highly unlikely that you will ever go over any bandwidth limit set by your ISP, (Internet Service Provider) because you have an IKS based Unit .
If you are still not sure check post #4 in this thread
