Re: Nimiq 2
82 IS primarily HD channels there are some SD channelsbut otherwise not worth messing with, you will be much better off with 91. You will be out of luck with a dish 500. You will need a dish 1000.2 and an HD receiver if you dont already have one.

Re: Nimiq 2
there is nothing preventing you from using a d500 to get 82/91 and properly view HD content if you have an HD receiver.
I'm from nebraska and haven't experimented with B3v....and I have not been able to find any footprint info for 82. I know there are several people around the Minneapolis area who receive it without problem though.

Re: Nimiq 2
i have a new nfusion HD and see about 50 hd channels waiting to be grabbed
They are all set up right I have a 2 receiver dual dish setup with a DP44and 2 22khz switches, dish one has 110,118.8.119,129 and are all set up ports 1 through 4 22 khz switches on,all work perfect, dish 2 is a 500 91,82 ports 1 and 2 22khz off, 91 is booming @90+ but 82 shows S around 84 but no Q, I have tried to edit the tps to the SRs at 21500 and set the TB8psk 2/3 and pilots are auto but still no luck. I havent adjusted the dish since february 2008, when i originally set it up for my vs 9000 and it was working great any recommendations for 82 setup specifically, 8 psk is installed and working properly on the few **** channels there are but its a shame to miss out on all the ***hd channels on 82

Re: Nimiq 2
i don't know why it matters what his receiver is. It doesn't matter what he wants to watch or what he wants to do.
The answer to the question has nothing to do with what receiver he has --- it's a yes or no.
Maybe he already has a 1000.2 and wants to add bev...maybe a thousand things. I've been looking for an answer to this same question for a very long time but never asked.
Does anyone has a link to a current, valid coverage map for 82?

Re: Nimiq 2

Re: Nimiq 2
i know it's not the brand....and this is not an attack at you or anyone else in this thread so please don't take it that way please!!
It's just a shame that there are so many noobies asking questions that we have to jump to conclusions and/or give information that has nothing to do with a specific question being asked because we've seen it asked a thousand times before by people who had no idea what they were doing and didn't understand the implications behind the question they were asking.
In this case -- we have a clearly informed user who has a simple question and didn't need anyone to qualify the validity of said question....a simple answer would have done the job.
Instead, we follow a flow cart and ask "well, do you have an HD receiver, cause it's all HD and it probably doesn't matter to you anyway..."
Bah. Maybe it's just me.

Re: Nimiq 2
and btw... we still don't have an answer either
The only stuff i've ever been able to find about the 82W bird footprint is before the launch of the current bird.

Re: Nimiq 2
C/P:
Here is a summary of what is happening with this 82w Nimiq2 Black Out:
Nimiq4 is now replacing Nimiq2 at the same orbit/degree, no need to move the dish or change the antennae settings.
Nimiq 4 is presenting two problems :
1.Different sat id header ...
Receivers not able to recognize the new header from Nimiq4 might get only audio no video or Scrambled Channels.
2.Nimiq4 is capable of more conturing of the footprint than Nimiq2 ...
The closer to the north you are..the better your chances will be.
Southern half of usa may be impossible to get decent signal strength.
In short,
If your location is not in the Nimiq4 footprint, you will not be able to get decent singal from 82w no matter what receiver you have.
If you are within the Nimiq4 footprint, receivers able to recognize the new header will be wide open while the rest will be getting scrambled channels depsite the strong signals.
A new fix might solve the problem

Re: Nimiq 2
Wow that was a long drawn out discussion with no definate answer. Basically I had 82 on the vs9000 but that was february 2008, is it necessary to tweek the dish since the change to nimiq4 from 2, with such small spotbeam to deal with. I dint know if i needed to head back on the roof with receiver and tv again and was basically looking for someone who has had succeess with the nfusion HD dish 500 setup. if I had to I could change that dish out to a 1000.2 for the exra size increase of the dish. The updated channel list BEV vs Dish makes it perfectly clear that 50 HD channels VS 8 makes this adventure well worth it. Thanks for the help yoda us huskers will do everything for the chance to see NU in HD if its even the slightest possibility.

Re: Nimiq 2
nontypical --
I have a birdog USB+ and a 5" black&white TV that I use with a visionsat iv200 for on-roof action....if you need help with sensitive tweaking/peaking, let me know.
I have a 76cm motorized dish on the roof that I need to get aligned with the arc, hoping I can get 82 with it. Send me a PM anytime
