This is the set up you are looking for, IF your LNB's are singular.

One thing this pic does not show is a switch. If you are running 3 separate LNB for each bird you will need a DP44 switch to get all sat signals on each receiver. The simplest way to get what i think you are after is to go with a DP triple LNB. These are able to send signal to to up to 4 receivers(if you get the correct one) and have a built in switch, so you simply go from LNB to receiver with your cabling.

Re: Dish types and uses..

Thanks for the info.
Ijust purchased the dish 1000+ with the lnb that captures sat 118 and 119.
This came with a 110 lnb with a hookup for 129.
I will have to find time and instal it this weekend

Re: Dish types and uses..

wgknappy023

I am new to FTA and this is the best thread i've seen to help me with my DTV dish problem. I want to use FTA instead and pick up 119 and 110 and whatever else you say i can pick up but i want to use my DTV dish so i dont have to buy new ones. When i had DTV i kept upgrading so here is what i have. I have DTV 2000 or 2001 18 inch round single LNB and dish, i have 2004 or 2005 3 LNB & Oval dish(3 LNB Looks EXACTLY like the picture above but is from DTV), and i just got in 2007 a HD 3 LNB with oval dish from DTV. Can i use any of this stuff to pick up 110 and 119, or can i at least use the dishes and just pick up the LNB's like u said above on auction site. My receiver setup will be the same as my DTV setup...1 dual tuner PVR maybe HD and 2 standard receivers. (my roomate wants me to get him a standard PVR so it might change to 2 pvr's and one standard receiver.)

Re: Dish types and uses..

You may want to read here:
http://www.abadss.com/forum/1012-dish-pointing-help-info/94478-direct-tv-dish-dish-network-setup.html

It looks like the best, would be the integrated DPPlus Triple LNB used with dish 1000.2.
It would give you 110,119 and 129 for HD, with the option to hook an additional satellite location with another dish, using a (single or dual) dishpro LNB.
It would be able to feed up to 3 single or dual tuner (using a $5 DPP Separator) receivers without any external switches.

Re: Dish types and uses..

This is what one can tell about your dish:
If the LNB is centered - usually with 3 equal lenght and equally spaced arms, then it is a prime focus dish. If th LNB is not centerd, with a single arm with or without 2 additonal smaller arms, it is an offset dish.
Based on the satellite received it may have 2 LNBs with circular polarization, unless it needs to be moved for getting one satellite or the other with a single circular LNB.
More details may be given if you tell us what is written on the LNB/LNBs, how do they look, how many coax hooks they have and how are they marked, what is the receiver setting for LNB type and if there are any switches involved.

Re: Dish types and uses

I appriciate the info Grasshopper BUT I need to ask what I should do as I have 2 6 foot dishes here in Central america.

Can I get 110 and 119 on 1 dish and if so is it as simple as a dual lnb on that dish. If this is so then can I aim the other dish at true fta sat?

Re: Dish types and uses..

DirectTV dishes don't work well. You can only use one of the LNB's to get one of the sats, 110 or 119, and only some of the channels will come in. Bottom line, get a DishNetwork Dish.

I tried feeding output of D500 (dual lnb) pointing to 92w into my 1000.2 IN port, but it does not work. My SV 8000 or 360p went "no channel". Hooking D500 directly to the box worked. Do SV boxes lack power to power up 5 lnbs, or do I need some sort of switch?
