the DP34 explained
c/p from wingnut101
Here's a picture of the DP34 switch (as used in Superdish setups). It is designed to replace a diseqc switch and control switching between 3 satellites. It is the same switch used for 105 Superdishes and 121 Superdishes. Wherever I mention 121, the 105 users can simply substitute the 105 and have it work.
I have numbered the ports and will briefly describe what each port is for.
1. Connects to the 1st lnb. Your choice but whatever feed you place here make sure your FTA receiver designates this feed as Diseqc #1. In this example, I run a feed from 121 to this port.
2. Connects to the 2nd lnb. Your choice but whatever feed you place here make sure your FTA receiver designates this feed as Diseqc #2. In this example, I run a feed from 119 to this port.
3. Connects to the 3rd lnb. Your choice but whatever feed you place here make sure your FTA receiver designates this feed as Diseqc #3. In this example, I run a feed from 110 to this port.
In this example, I have my FTA receiver set for 121=1, 119=2 and 110=3.
4,5,6 and 7...
These ports provide the ability to connect up to 4 receivers. Run cables from these ports DIRECTLY to your receiver(s) (do NOT use any switches between the dp34 and your receiver).
8,9 and 10...
These ports transfer the feeds to another switch. (Such as another dp34 switch) This is helpful when installers setup multiple systems - I.E. an apartment or condo setup. If you follow my example, the 121 feed would be passed along to port 10, 119 passes to port 9 and 110 passes to port 8.
Recognize that for another dp34 switch to operate correctly in a cascading environment, the 2nd dp34 switch must have at least one (1) receiver powered to it at all times.
And finally, if you use true Superdish equipment (as made by DN) you will need a Dpro channel list to reflect the transponder shifts.

Re: the DP34 explained
Ok So here is what i got . I have a dish pro Lnb 1 coming out to input on 43 for lnb 1 and lnb 2 output from the dispro to lnb input on the 34. I have been told since it is a dish pro i dont need to out from the pro lnb 2 into the 34 since it does the switching already. anyway with this setup i have 119 on lnb 2 (captiveworks 600 preimum) I move the dish and cant pics 199 on lnb 1 like i want and cant get 110 at all. But intermittenly i pick up 121. What am i doign wrong. And thanks for the gerat site

Re: the DP34 explained
edit to arbors first post, you can indeed use a switch in the output of the dp34. picture is here. to get 91 my settings were: sw21 dish 1; for 110 - sw21 dish 2, lnb 1; for 119 sw21 dish 2, lnb 2; for 148 sw21 dish 2, lnb 3. so it is possible to add another switch.
for the above poster use 110 for port 1, 119 for port 2 and 91 for port 3. the in your receivers settings set 110 to lnb 1, 119 to lnb 2, and 91 for lnb 3

Re: the DP34 explained
Thanks so much! I am a NEW newbie trying to hook up a Viewsat 9000HD to my existing Dish system that has a 105 degree Superdish and DP34 switch. I was only getting one satellite using the default diseqc setting of none.
I'm sure this will solve my problem.
Thanks again,
Roscoep

Re: the DP34 explained
can the view sat ultra power a dp34 with out a dn box. with dish
1000.2
never mind figured it out dish 1000.2 you just run cable from port 1 to 1st reciever port 2 to 2nd & so on switch is internal.

Re: the DP34 explained
This seemed the appropriate place to pose my question:
My setup is as follows:
Superdish with two LNB's. First LNB is standard, pointing at 110. Second LNB is OCS-DP pointing at 119. The standard LNB has one output. The OCS-DP LNB has 2 outputs.
Currently, LNB1 is going to a DiseqC port 1 and LNB2 is going to DiseqC port 2. All works fine with one receiver.
So if I wanted to add another receiver, it looks like all I'll need is one DP34 switch. Can anyone confirm?

Re: the DP34 explained
Hi,
From a signal strength point of view is it better to use the dp34/44 than to use a diseqc type of switch?

Re: the DP34 explained
Hmmm, how do I know if they are dp type. They are the original type I got for my old bev/dn dishes, dual style. Which ones don't work with the dp 34/44?
