how to get anik F3@118.8w

small dishes like 18" dtv regular and dish 500 work fine.
the lnb:
c/p
Anik F3 is being used by DN @ 119w.



You need a "different" LNBF for Anik F3:

1. The center lnbf on Dish500+ and Dish1000+ dishes
2. Eagle Aspen DTVGD (dual) & DTVGS (single)
3. CB2008 (dual) & CE1000 (single)
4. Microyal FTA-118 & KW-118 (both dual)

Haven't read much about option #4, you'll be just fine with any of the other three.

Echo7 and Anik F3 are both on 119w, there is nothing on 118.7w or 118.8w at the moment (AMC 16 used to be there but now is on 97w, Charlie is no longer using this sat).

One question: I have seen many used the CB2008A (which is low noise 0.3 db) couldn't find the Anik F3, and they claimed need 30" dish, is DP 500 dish workable? Is anyone else test this small dish configuration?

it must be.otherwise why would dish make dish 500+ dishes.
the + means it has the required lnb to get it.

Anik F3, is on 118 W used by DN for Ethnic channels, and can be received with Dish 1000 or single dish 20 or 24" standard LNBF like FTA LNBF, Not DN or DirecTV which are circular polarisation and higher frequency LNBFs

Rogybe a fta lnb is lenar an wont work fer the 118.8 bird it circular with a freq. range from 11.7ghz to 12.2 ghz, an most of dbs lnbs only work from 12.2ghz to 12.7ghz, so the 11.8 is below that freq. range, and what Aboristman posted is 100% correct, and i have personal look at that sat from day 1 wich is about a year ago, an when i first look at it used a old data dish (24inch) with a comercal circular pol lnb with frecq. of 11.2ghz to 12.7ghz an oslator freq of 10.600, wich is not standard by any means of FTA, now their is another problem when people get the CB line of the 11.7 to 12.7 ghz lnbs (square flange mount like DTV) is that they have a odd focal lenght, so if u just put it in place of a standard dbs lnb will have very low signal and may not work, or work well, or they did not change their osalator freq. from 11.250 to 10.750, so you would need to move lnb in closer on most dishes to get max signal an most people dont do it, an just bolt it on an go, an then complain about low signal or it dont work right. So what you mean is that the dish size is not the issue, rather the correct focus point is not adjusted to max opt point. Do you have any more specific point for the positioning?

I stumbled across Anik F3 last night by accident/curiousity when I was preparing for a channel scan, saw I had signal and quality so I added it in to the mix.
I ended up with a lot of regular T.V. stations as well as PPV/300's/ and other assorted....crap( for lack of a better description)
I don't know anything about LNB design as described up above, I just know I had a dead one sometime back and I replaced it with an LNB from a Direct T.V. dish, I also have one from a Bell dish, the only thing I knew for sure was one has a rectangular end and the other has a semi-circle (I have a stick wedged in the flat side so it would remain tightened to the LNB bracket.
Nothin but hi-tech here.

I guess your recangular one is a 11.7-12.75 LNB. what size the the dish you have?

And also do you have any internationals? I don't think Anik F3 will show on your satellite name, It should appeared as a bogus echo satellite name.

I just finished reviewing the blind scan, 212 channels.
PPV are blank(* 20)
many spanish (est.*30)
there are a few asian and Arab, looks like
NASA
WE
mystery movie channels as discussed in another thread (english language)
and the best part is I have Speed/Fuse/Spike /USA and a few others, plus FOOTBALL/ b-ball/hockey and all kinds of soccer

Only real issue I have seen is I have to change Satt's to get this menu.

**note, I have not been able to get SPIKE at all since I bought this vs 2000 Ultra months ago and that was....5 or 6 PGM's ago

Looks like you scan 119, their are no ppv or nasa on 118.8 only international an HD locals are on 118.8, an only 20 channels are hd an they are the ONLY american channels on that bird.

I'm just rying to make sense of it too,
so...I used an electonic signal finder when I set up my dish , I show quality and signal well into the 80's
When I did a channel scan the lower box has choice of birds, when I click on one it shows signal/quality.
I scanned the list just to see if anything else showed signs of life and anikF3 showed good, so I added it to the mix, my mistake here was alot of channels were blank and I deleted them. After I read this thread today I re-scanned blind (only anikF3) and came up with the 212 channels.
Like I stated b4, I have never been able to get Spike on this system until now, and a lot of 'lost' channels have now appeared on this menu. When I choose satt. packages, I have to take anikF3 alone to get this menu.

Not complaining at all, just glad this is working
maybe someone else has experienced similar

So I believe the 18" dish did work, and only thing is get the right LNB. And you DTV LNB model is odd, could you tell the LNB model number?

Brysown try to scan freq 11.715 right (vertical) sym rate of 20000 an fec of7/8, asia tv is on that transponder, or put in receiver an use receiver to tweak dish, an yes 18 inch will work, but will need to play with the focal lenght, fer dish being smaller.

hi guys. bought a lnb cb2008a for 118.7.119 using 18x24 elliptical dish. was able to get both sats but signal on 118 very low. loaded up the transponder on 118 and auto scan. has anybody upgraded to a bigger elliptical to received all channels on 118. thanks

Have you set the focal lenght on that lnb? you know the have a odd focal lenght, an hope that you didnt get them off fleebay i just got some ROC model #cst-11g big peice of crap real noisey on the spectrum anz, an low signal an was to be a .3db got em from fleebay an sorry i did, will sell em some where, but not to any of my freinds was going to tell u seller on e-bay that has the good & bad ones but dont think i can do that, think its aginst forum rules? good luck Captain

internationals.
you can see them listed at lyngsat at the top of the list for 119w

sure.with an hd fta receiver and a great big 10-12 foot dish you can get movie central HD 1 free and clear all the time on anik f2 for example.
