Need the pros...please help

Here is my conundrum. I have a legacy DTV elliptical dish with 3 DTV lnb's, 110,119, 92. Each lnb running to a DP34 switch. Out of the switch to 2 FTA's(cw800 & CS5000) I am having issues when both receivers are on...they lose siganal or say weak signal. But if I turn one of them off, the problem corrects itself. In reading, I assume it is a power issue, that the FTA boxes cannot power the DP34 enough ? Can someone please give me the best and/or least expensive solution to this. I have multiple diseqc switches, can these be used to create a multiple receiver setup ? Or maybe I need a power inserter instead for the DP34 switch ? If so where could I get one....just need the best solution. Thanks in advance !!

Re: Need the pros...please help

You actually have 2 problems.
1) Legacy LNBs dont work with DP switches
2) The DTV LNB will not get most of the DN channels, much less combine the 110/119 do to the separation angle on those particular LNBs

You are better off getting a DP Twin LNB and running both receivers wiout the need of an external switch.

Re: Need the pros...please help

Thanks for the help. But I am also pointed at 92 all on one dish. 119/110/92. The DP twin will only take care of 119/110 right ? Also the DP34 switch is working with the DTV lnb's. I have no problems until I hook up a second FTA stb.

Re: Need the pros...please help

I am actually surprised that the DTV 3 lnb setup is working with the DP34. Maybe you stumbled on something we just assumed for a long time that DTV 3 lnb dishes do not work with DP switches.

I recommend getting a power inserter and hooking it up to the first output and then connect your FTAs to the 2nd and 3rd outputs.

Let us know it this solves your problem. I have a DTV 3 lnb sitting in the back yard and if yours is working I will have to play with my setup too.

If you have been lucky enough to get any channels from those birds with that LNB, you should use the Zinwell WB68 switch instead.

Im suprised aswell JP. I tried to do that hookup for a friend and I was never able to configure that LNB (at leat not sucessfully) Lots of TPs issues and signal losts when trying to switch sats, not to mention lots of missing channels.

Re: Need the pros...please help

Thanks for the help. I am using 3 seperate old legacy DTV lnbs, elliptical dish with a 4 lnb yoke. So which do you think I should do, the oiwer inserter or the zinwell switch. I really do not need all of those outputs, do they make like a WB34? Also, would I just use diseq settings on the stb's ?

Ok the problem you are having is the focal point of the LNBs. Not all dishes are design to work with the 4/5 LNB bracker. You can fine tune 2 sats and find that the 3rd or 4th sat has no signal.
The DTV PhaseIII dish is design to deflect the signal from 119/110/101 into the Triple LNB. When you mount a different kind of LNB or LNB bracket, the focal points will not be the same. You will need to modify the bracket or tweek the LNBs to pickup the signal better.

Re: Need the pros...please help

I never had had an issue until now when I tried to use the DP34, because I wanted a second receiver. Up until now was strong on 119/110/92 with the elliptical, 90% plus on all 3 birdies, so I dont think focal point is the prob. I just turned for help to get the best ideas for a second stb setup. So I took your advice Apocalypse & ordered the Zinwell WB68 switch. Now with this setup what would my antenna settings be as far as the switch settings on the stb's ?

Re: Need the pros...please help

One more question. On this Zinwell WB68 switch the "in" ports are not numbered like on a DP switch or diseqc. With those, your switch number reflected the port in your antenna settings of the stb. On the Zinwell switch the ports are labled, left to right:
18V...13V...18V...13V...Flexport1...Flexport2. Which port do I put each sattelite to ?
110/119/92 & for each of these ports, what do they correspond to on the diseqc switch on the antenna settings of the stb ?
