Zinwell WB68 switch
Question. On the Zinwell WB68 switch the "in" ports are not numbered like on a DP switch or Diseqc . With those, your switch number reflected the port in your Antenna settings of the STB . On the Zinwell switch the ports are labled, left to right: 18V...13V...18V...13V...Flexport1...Flexport2. Which port do I put each satellite to ? 110/119/92 & for each of these ports, what do they correspond to on the Diseqc switch on the Antenna settings of the STB ?

Re: Zinwell WB68 switch
That switch is only going to work for you for 2 Legacy LNBs.
You would need another Zinwell for the third orbital position. like a 3x4.
Just think of a Zinwell 6x8 as an overgrown 22KHz switch. Or more exactly, like 8 22KHz switches built into one. The flexports need certain tones from the receiver to trigger them. Unfortunately, FTA receivers do not produce those tones.
The proper way to wire switches to FTA receivers is...
Receiver -> DiSEqC -> 22KHz -> LNB
I will attach a picture later to this thread to show you what is going on.

Re: Zinwell WB68 switch
Thanks woodcreeker, I think I got some erroneous information from another site helper in a previous post. I explained my setup & he suggested a Zinwell WB68, even though I had a third orbital location. Sounds like this switch is pretty much worthless for my setup. I have a DTV elliptical with legacy DTV lnb's, 3 birds 110/119/92. Was trying to hook up a second stb using a DP34 but was having problems where only one receiver would work at a time. Any suggestions ?

Re: Zinwell WB68 switch
Oh yeah, you really got some erroneous information for sure. If I were you, get a Dish 500 with dual Legacy LNBs. If you have the Zinwell switch, that is fine, it works with some, but not all FTA receivers. (I still do not know which receivers you have??) The DTV dish has oddball LNBs on them, and does not get all the satellite TP frequencies you want on the Echo satellites. They are advertised to get those satellites so people buy them, only to find out they do not work. DTV is getting a little extra grease this way, and so are some shady individuals.
I will give you that pic, I will finish drawing it up.

Re: Zinwell WB68 switch
Quick sketch. Shows you the power of using this switch. Lots of wires for this for a multi-receiver setup. As you can see, you can achieve 8 orbital positions with these switch combinations.
Settings to change for this setup would be:
119W
LNB Type: Standard
LNB Freq: 11250
22KHz: Off
DiSEqC: Port 1
110W
LNB Type: Standard
LNB Freq: 11250
22KHz: On
DiSEqC: Port 1
91W
LNB Type: Standard
LNB Freq: 11250
22KHz: Off
DiSEqC: Port 2
Etc., Etc., Etc. LOL
Maybe you will get big ides from this, maybe it is overwhelming.
Hope This Helps !!

Re: Zinwell WB68 switch
Now, here is the normal way to do it. In your case, you would need either a Dish 500 like the one above, and a regular 18" or the 3 LNB DTV you have would do the job for just 91W. I know it sounds strange, but that big dish you have is only good for 1 satellite with an FTA receiver, trust me.
Just use 2 Diseqc switches and be sure the dish 500 has 2 dual LNBs like the single one pictured above.
This diagram lays out the basic 1 receiver setup. You will figure it all out. Then if you want to get ambitious, and wire up the whole neiborhood, you can. (Just kidding)
Hope this all helps you !!
