where to go next
Alright, so I'm a sad owner of a Coolsat 5000, I've been very happy till lately, so I want to upgrade to a receiver that will power my rotor with well at a longer distance... my old Coolsat was a bit shakey at moving my dish because of the longer length of cable I've got to run.
Here's my specs:
33" dish
Dual, quad LNB
SG 2100 HH rotor
Coolsat 5000 (soon to be retired)
I'm leaning towards a CW800 PVR sent up just because the price is hard to beat and the support is pretty good, I'm just wondering about how well it will power my rotor.
Anyone have any good set ups that are working great for you?
THANX

Re: where to go next
You know... back in the early days of FTA right after DAVE snipped us off, there was a guy that used to toss out his wisdom on this kind of thing, his name was ACRadio.
DAM I miss that guy!... there was also a girl named Horsegirl but that's a differant story ;-)

Re: where to go next
well i guess there just isn't to many people out there tonight that have a cw800pvr hitched up to a motor. and we won't want to give you a bogus answer to get your hopes up. thats just the way we are here..if you hang around some more hopefully someone with some knowledge on this STB will give you an answer soon. hang tight buddy..now I just happen to know a site that you will likely get you 20 answers in 15 secs but I highly doubt they have the right answer as most of these guys are just trying to break the 100 posts in I week record..nn***hhhh.. I'm not that mean..

Thanks Rick for keepin up the faith, I've been around for a while... kinda sturred it up a bit when the "post rankings" arrived, thought it would only make tons of idiots post answers like "hu?" or "gee lets see what happens" just to get higher on the "ladder" instead of getting posts from those that really understand the question and can give an answer... my question ain't rocket science for a dude that's been doing this for a while and tried 3 or 4 different receivers on their rotor set up.
As far as CW800 goes it's just where I'm leaning, any other set up that's going good is what I'm looking for info on... how bout you Rick?

I like my CoolSat6100 just fine.
I might even like my SonicView4000 even better, due to even faster support.
CaptiveWorks is right up there too. (support)
But I can't comment about the motor part Word...

Re: where to go next
i dont think any reciever will power your motor any differently, chances are you will have the same problem, its the length of the cable, not the reciever

Re: where to go next
As far as using a Captiveworks 800 with a motor, they are a very good combination. I remember helping you setup your motorized setup, wordup. There are quirks with all receivers when it comes to motors, but the few negatives definately outweigh all the positives with this unit. There are lots of menu options on the Captiveworks, makes for a bit of a pain, but once you get used to them, you will find out this unit is a very good fit with your motor. You can tweak your dish right in with controls built into the menus. If you don't mind fooling around in lots of menus, this receiver may become a favorite of yours.
You can even change your screen background picture!
Hope This Helps !!

Re: where to go next
Thank you all for tossing in your 2 cents, this place is the best for getting good info and forum support. I'm really interested in getting something that has a good PVR, I've read that some are better than others with the "time shift", anyone have a personal fav in the PVR department here?

Yo Rikky, I'm just chillin... watching TUF on cable :-(
Trying to figure out if IKS is going to get me "busted" somewhere down the road or be the next "way to go" with our beloved sport. Still swimming through all the PVR info, time shift glitches and dual tuners are spinning my head. Still wishin my Coolsat was as good as it was a year ago, but times change and some of the stuff I've been reading is making me twitch a bit.
