Homebuilt LNB adapter?
I have an old 18" Direct tv dish that I am trying to use with a new invacom LNB. The dish has a straight LNB boom that used an angled LNB originally. I looked around locally for an adapter, but could not find one. My plan now is to build an adapter using the old, dead direct tv LNB as a template. Do you think this would work if I am able to get the angles and position correct? Will holding the new LNB by clamping onto the thin receiver "neck" portion be ok, or will that cause damage? All help will be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks,
-John

Re: Homebuilt LNB adapter?
Alright! Thanks tomcat01! I'm using an Invacom quad polar legacy 4. I'm looking for the Dish network bird. I think I'll eventually get a bigger dish, but I had this one laying around and want to see if I can get it to work.

Re: Homebuilt LNB adapter?
ok bud you have a quad it should work for all the sats now you can get 110 for movies and if you want sprts then go for 119 .. your settings will have to be as follow before you go and get a signal .. (as i say later a bigger dish would be great )
satellite echostar 8,10
lnb type universal
lnb freq 10750
22khz off
disqec1.0 what ever port matching switch
legacy sw off
transponder 12224
motor off
satellite echostar 7
lnb type universal
lnb freq 10750
22khz off
disqec1.0 what ever port matching switch
legacy sw off
transponder 12239
motor off
now this is for bev
satellite nimiq 1,3 91w
lnb type universal
lnb freq 10750
22 khz off
disqec1.0 what ever port matching switch
legacy sw off
transponder 12239

Re: Homebuilt LNB adapter?
Thanks for all the help! I'm building the adapter for my LNB this morning and mounting the dish this afternoon. I'm hoping to have it up and running by tonight. The last time I aimed a dish was about 10 years ago so I'm more than a bit rusty. I'll let you know how it goes.

Re: Homebuilt LNB adapter?
Well, my adapter works fine and my LNB seems to be transmitting a decent signal. Unfortunately, I'm such a noob at this that I can't seem to figure out how to view the channels. I'm aiming at what I think is the DN 110 bird. My captiveworks cw700s has a list of sats, and I chose the only one at 110 which is the echostar 6,8. I'm getting decent signal strength and quality and when I do a fast channel scan, I see lots of both network and PPV channels. However, when I go to view the channels, they are either black or a small box appears saying "scrambled channel". I downloaded the 1.65 BIN to the stb and allowed it to reboot but still nothing. What the heck am I doing wrong?

Re: Homebuilt LNB adapter?
Alright, I finally got it going! Never would have figured it out without that link from tomcat01, thanks a million bud!!! BTW, the dish looks rediculous! The LNB is fastened to a wooden block with zip-ties. The wooden block is pressed into the LNB boom. Pretty it is not, but it works!
